roughsawn
I have a Bosch RA 1181 router table, with a Bosch 1617 EVS router installed. Everyone knows the Bosch lift is a piece of crap. The C-Clip is always stripping, or slipping. Can you guys suggest a router lift that will fit my set up? I'd like it to work with both my 1617, and 1181 table. Feel free to drop a link, if you can. Thanks!
Chestnut
Have a budget in mind? If budget is no concern there are quite a few nice lifts from woodpeckers or incra. If your on a bit of a budget I bought the SL lift from rockler and it does what I need it to do. https://www.rockler.com/rockler-sl-router-lift It's not perfect the system that stops the lift from creeping during use has loosened on me after 2 years of use and needed to be tightened but that was really easy and didn't cause me trouble. From my research this tightening only needs to be done once as the parts wear in.
drzaius
I have an Excalibur (a General International brand) lift that is very similar to the SawStop lift. It is a massive beast with 4 threaded posts that move the carriage. No complaints at all with it.
Chet
Besides the ones mentioned above, Jessum and Incra are nice and dependable. I have had an Incra for several years now and have no complaints. Unless something has changed recently, both Jessum and Incra need to be ordered based on the router motor you are going to use, they are not one size fits all.
Mark J
Another thing to check is the dimensions of the plate. Apparently some router tables take different sizes.

That is, not all 9 x 11 inch plates fit all openings.
roughsawn
Good info, guys. Seems to me I saw someplace, Jessum makes one for my set up. I want to keep the same table, and router. I need to do some snooping around before I make my mind up.

They are junk, and it's widely known. The lift screw threads thru a c-clip, that either bends (making it not move up or down), or strips and falls off. Mine has done both, for the very little I have used it.

I was on router forums for years and never heard this.
BillyJack
I’m not a fan of router lifts because if the cost, but the video says a simple collar stop fixes the issue..I would try the recommended fix before the investment of a router raiser https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj9_-S13cCBAxX3GTQIHVQNCMIQwqsBegQIEBAG&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DNK5-tMwq5tQ&usg=AOvVaw22yls-ZOUTgZyJkpQPV3HC&opi=89978449
roughsawn
I'll be danged. I've spent hours on youtube searching for a reasonable fix, and never saw that video. I will fix mine with one of those collars. Thank you for the link!
JohnG
Huh, I used my 1617 base as a router lift for a few years and never had any issues with it. Only reason I moved away from it was because I got my Sawstop with RT.
