Popular Post Chet
But woodworking none the less. Forty plus years ago the first thing we did to the house after moving in was build a pergola on the back of the house to create some shade. It was a project that my Dad and I did over a couple of weekends. But the time had come to tear the old beast down before it fell down and build a new one. It is all rough Con-Hart Redwood, 6" X 6" posts, 2" X 6" joist and 2" X 2" staves on top. Now I just have to get all the patio furniture moved back.

Popular Post curlyoak
It be interesting to see the before picture. i bet the current work is much better than 40 something years ago. Orchids would grow in that spot. 30 years ago I built a patio with some cypress timbers. Someone told me that orchids would be happy there. I bought one and then I was hooked. So be careful because of the addiction factor. So if you came to our orchid meeting the way you introduce yourself is My name is Chet and I'm an orchalic. Excellent work. It looks inviting...

The two designs were pretty similar with the exception of the 2" x 2" staves on top. The first version I used nursery screen instead. The trouble with that was that I had to change it every 7 to 10 years because of weathering.

Just regular wood burning fireplaces, though they don't get used a lot here in California weather wise.
