Juicegoose
Over the weekend I was doing some detail work with my chisels when it became obvious that I needed to pickup a shop stool of some kind. Even though my bench is about 36" tall I found myself bending over some to get accurate. I know a lot of you guys have shop stools so sound off!! What kind of shop stool do you have. Does the stool spin, roll on rollers, have an adjustable height, have a back? Who makes the stool you guys bought and where did you buy it from. Thanks guys
Frank Speyerer
I prefer a stool without rollers. It is more stable. http://www.sears.com:80/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00961828000P?i_cntr=1288100320620
CubsFan
I have that exact craftsman one. They had it on sale last Black Friday for $40 or so. I really like that it doesn't have wheels, has adjustable height, and has a backrest.
Juicegoose
I agree with the rollers comments and think it would be almost dangerous. I've seen that norhtern tool has a stool that is similiar to the craftsman for pretty cheap. It's gotten good reviews. Might have to make a run!!! Beechwood Chip
I think I got mine at a thrift store. No wheels, no swivel. Wooden legs, I adjusted the height with a hand saw.
DALSAW
I have a Powermatic stool that I won as a door prize a few years back when they opened my local Woodcraft store, it spins but that's about it. Every time I look at it, I get the urge to go out and buy some Powermatic tools to match it.
Guest Trace
I'm the odd man out here. The floor in my shop is so uneven a stool with casters wouldn't roll. A fixed leg stool would have a hard time finding a place where it would have all for feet on the floor. Hmmmmm, maybe thats why my projects only seem to have three feet on the floor in the house. iSawitFirst
I have a swivel stool on wheels and love it! I also have a PVC floor in my shop with a dimple pattern that keeps me from busting my but on my stool.
muddlermike
I picked up mine from a yard sale on moon unit zappa...
samhell
I was going to build one but happened to be at Rockler and noticed their stool kit on sale for dirt cheap so I just got it instead I like it. Sturdy and height adjustable...
nateswoodworks
I have 2 shop chairs, an adjustable computer chair and a old maple captains chair. The captains chair was given to me because it had a couple broken legs, I was able to find a desk chair swivel base with casters to replace the legs. I use the captains chair for all my benchwork and the pc chair for drafting and watching TV- I mean deep concentration. Everybody has their own preferences but I personally love my chairs on casters. My kids are also out there with me quite a bit and 2 kids plus 2 swiveling chairs equal a dad that can get something done!! Nate
Dan S
I have two, both are cheap wood BORG bar stools, one high, and one low. I think I paid like $15 a piece for them, they are surprisingly well constructed considering the price point.
Dan S
I can't believe it, but it looks like Menards finally has a decent website. this is the high stool: http://www.menards.com/main/millwork/furniture/seating/bar-stools/29-bar-height-natural-finish-barstool/p-184178.htm?cid=6981
PaulMarcel
My neighbor permanently lent me his Orange County Choppers stool. I also have a swivel from Rockler. Neither has wheels or I'd already be dead.

Alan Ambrose
That Menards one is in my shop X 2. Picked them up at an auction a few years ago...$15 for 3 of them I believe. Very nice to have around. Light, good height, easy to move out of the way. Sometimes they even get flipped upside down on me bench. Save the digits! -Al

PaulLapczynski
I got 2 oak barstools at a garage sale for $10. They are sturdy and work.
went_postal
I use a mechanic's stool from Northern Tool. I sit at my assembly table more than anything else so it works out really well height wise.
