Tom Cancelleri
I'm thinking a shirt with Penny would be better +1 for Penny. My woodworking shirts generally consist of the Bazinga shirt, my Red Milwaukee Tools shirt, and some white undershirts that are in disrepair. Tom Cancelleri
My reindeer for rescues plan is going exceptionally. I had my largest order picked up just now and the woman asked me what other things I can make. I showed her some turnings, walking sticks, and a scroll saw bowl/basket that I made and she "reserved" an order for a scroll saw bowl to be done by christmas.

Llama
These are a great way to get your foot in the door. Quite literally. I have some things at a local gallery, which have done wonders for exposure. All started with reindeer. Skies the limit!
skiback46
What size (or even brand) bandsaw blade are you guys using to make these reindeer? I think I have a 3/16 or a 1/4 is that going to be small enough? I really like the woodslicer, but obviously a 1/2" blade isn't going to cut it for the reindeer. Llama
I use a 1/4" laguna blade. I also make mine a little differently than the other guys. I'll have to post something on how make mine. Been a few pms asking how I do it.
Eric.
3/16" 4TPI Timberwolf on my 14" saw. I resaw the side profile first, leaving the off-cut attached with a little meat at the top, then I do the front profile that separates the three pieces. I'm struggling to think of a better way to do it.
Tom Cancelleri
I do all my milling first. I resaw some 8/4 into 1 1/8" thick blank then I rip 2" wide strips then I cut them to 5 1/2" long blanks I have a front and side profile template made of 1/2" MDF. I trace it on then then stack em up. I use an Olsen 3/16 10 tpi blade with a Carter Blade stabilizer. I know the tooth count is high for thick wood, but my options are 1/4" Olson 8tpi (Has a little tiny kink in it that doesn't do well for tight scrolling) 3/8" Timberwolf 3-4 Skip tooth (Green wood, general purpose, cutting bowl blanks) 1/2" 6 TPI General purpose blade that came with the saw 3/4" Timberwolf 3-4 Skip tooth (Resawing)

I resaw some 8/4 into 1 1/8" thick blank then I rip 2" wide strips You don't find these steps superfluous since the excess gets cut away anyway? I cut mine out of all different sized blanks. As long as it's big enough and it's square, it doesn't matter.

I cut mine out of all different sized blanks. As long as it's big enough and it's square, it doesn't matter. I was originally just tossing out lots of excess. After I resawed the 8/4 down I was left with usable cherry and walnut boards. Less wasted material that I could use for other things like boxes, etc.
Eric.
Ah, I get it. Yeah I was just using scraps right out of the bins. They're lucky they ever met a saw again so they have nothing to complain about.
Tom Cancelleri
The first couple I did were made from cutoffs and scraps. After I put them online and started getting orders, I needed to mill up some lumber to make them. I made over 60 of them in the last 10 days. wtnhighlander
What are the dimensions you guys are following? My little test 'Comet' is about 5" tall, and the curves were pretty tight for my 1/4" blade. No way I could have done it without a lot of relief cuts. Llama
Mine are 6" tall, 3.5" wide, and about an inch thick. 1/4" laguna blade no stabilizer thingy, no relief cuts.
