wtnhighlander
Incredible, Steve! Not just a beautiful piece, but perfectly fitted in a tight space. That is very impressive!

Tom Cancelleri
Steve, I gotta ask because I don't really see you as a sketchup type guy. Do you draw up every aspect of the piece, or do you have your outside dimensions and what the client wants, and then build everything off the cuff and use relative dimensioning? Woodenskye
Steve, I haven't kept up on this, but the final piece is fantastic. Fits the space perfectly and like the molding.
wdwerker
I just work from dimensions and lots of math for a project like this one. Dial and digital calipers help a lot, measure 2 thicknesses of the case sides & subtract that from the desired total width. On more complex pieces like the Mahogany Library Ladder I draw the piece full size on 1/4" sheets of MDF. Then I can take measurements straight off the drawing. One complex entertainment center took 3 sheets to draw. I find it faster to draw full size than try to scale a drawing. I have tried many programs over the years and never found one that was easy to use so it was always easier to just draw it full size. Clients can see the proportions but can't use my drawing to get other quotes !
Brendon_t
Steve that piece came out amazing, I also did not fully grasp the magnitude of your shop move until the early pics of seeing your shop. That's a big space and years of accumulation to be moving. Best of luck.
