Llama
So, I had to pick up some more wood for this coffee table I'm working on... (actually I didn't, but I thought I did because I didn't see the piece I already had sitting my lumber rack). My wood guy let me know he had some nice curly walnut sitting around. I knew they were there, and I almost bought them last time. He was trying to talk me into it like I'm some sort of guy that can't control spending or something! ha! I have will of steel! I can resist anything!! Well, almost anything... on to the pics...Something around 30bf of walnut. Yeah, 10/4 On the rack! Where as happenstance would have it is where I found the spalted elm I needed for the other project...

Brendon_t
That sticks just straight fugly.. you should proabably just paint it or better yet, white wash it then hit it with stuff for a distressed look. Really up the wow factor.

Coop
So, you bought the 10/4 or that's the piece you found in your stash?
Llama
So, you bought the 10/4 or that's the piece you found in your stash?I bought that one, and a piece of 8/4 today. The one I found in my stash is the spalted one in the other thread for the drawers.
estesbubba
Get out the hand plane and hit it with mineral spirits so we know the curl isn't just bandsaw marks Nice looking boards!
Coop
Just wondering how bad we have it down here, what did you have to pay for it?
wtnhighlander
Walnut ... yum! Nice score!
krtwood
There were a couple curly walnut boards in this pile, nothing that nice though. No junk either though. Maybe one board out of 150 that I wouldn't have picked myself which was quite the relief considering the size of the check it took to get it here. The ten 10 to 12 footers were still at the bottom of the driveway... Gary Gilbert
wow that is lot of dust material.
Llama
The figure in the boards is much more evident in person. I could take the rotex to part of one of them so it would be more clear for everyone else... But, I have no immediate plans for these boards and would rather just leave them alone until I do. I did get a decent deal on them as I paid right around what plain unfigured walnut would cost me around here.
Llama
Ok.. Some of you doubted the curl... And to be honest my curiosity got the best of me. But when my guy says it's curly, he means it! Took the Rotex to it, right on the damn lumber rack. Sanded up to 400, and hit it with a little bit of water. I hope these pics to it justice.
