shaneymack
Just got this bad boy tonight. Here is a size comparison next to the standard block plane. Very similar size It is a lovely little plane that sits great in hand. As usual the blade comes needing a honing and maybe a little work on the back. I only opened it up late tonight after i put the kids to bed so I haven't gotten to that yet. It was sharp enough to play around with so i gave it a try. Put the blade in, adjusted it, lowered the nicker, put the fence on and went to town. It was super easy to setup. Within 5 minutes of having it out of the box it was on some wood. I started by cutting cross grain and right away the fence slipped. Tightened it up and i felt it slip again. I took the rod out and sanded it perpendicular to the rod. Didn't slip again. Easy fix. Here are a couple quick test cuts in some poplar. Took the fence off and free handed a few inches of raised panel Pretty impressive results considering the amount of time I spent setting it up, the blade wasn't as sharp as it should be and it is my first experience with a plane of this kind. I am really impressed with this little guy. I can see it coming in handy for cleaning up tenons, cleaning up raised paned off the table saw ( yay no more sanding raised panels!) small one off rabbets etc. Oh and they come in pairs..... Immortan D
Nice planes, Shane! I ordered the LN version of those planes on early February, right hand only though. Still hasn't shipped yet... oh well.

Tom Cancelleri
I'm glad to see they kept the form factor of the DX60. Did you buy the angle setting jig for the MKII so you can sharpen the blades?

TerryMcK
It's very worthwhile getting the angle setting jig. I bought it for honing my skews and it really works well.
Unknown craftsman
I have the Ln version myself. Maybe it's just me thinking the grass is greener.Sometimes I wish had Lee Valley planes just so I could switch over to pm11 steel. I really don't like A2. Nice addition Shaney. Unknown craftsman
It takes too long to sharpen and doesn't hold a keen edge very well.Esp for the effort it takes. Most of the chisels I use are Japaneese blue steel.I have one Kanna. So I am comparing A2 to the other. I hollow grind my plane blades so that's helps. The blue steel cut away fast and stays sharp long time. Aj
Tpt life
Yeah, that's a grass greener in the last post. When do you ever cut the lineal feet with a chisel that you expect out of a plane? I am not going to make a better or worse statement, but my training is to evaluate testing criteria and you cannot make apples to oranges comparisons.
