houstonwoodworker
I have a Jet JPS-10TS table saw. I can not get the blade below the surface of the table and I can not get the arbor lock button to engage for blade changes. I've spent a lot of time looking at this and can't figure it out. Is there something simple that I am missing to adjust these or should I give Jet a call??
Tpt life
That's the table top button arrangement? Chances are it only locks into one spot, so try to spin the blade a full revolution while pushing that button firmly. For the blade height, I'd inspect inside the cabinet paying close attention to any build up of dust on threads or stops. I suspect something is hanging the carriage up. Any chance the blade needs to be all the way up to engage the arbor lock?
Coop
You have sawdust buildup on the underside of your table. Remove the rear dust collection cover and take an air hose and spray the whole underside of the tabletop in all nooks and cranneys. Tilt the blade and do this several times and both will operate as new.
houstonwoodworker
I cleaned it not too long ago but I'll certainly give this a try. Thanks!
houstonwoodworker
So I finally got the chance to do as you advised...really sprayed out underneath the table and cleaned some of the threads. I was able to get the blade beneath the table (barely) after turning the handle pretty hard. I still can't get the arbor lock button to engage. I looked closer at it and noticed that the two holes do not align. Checkout the attached picture. Any ideas how to fix this???

houstonwoodworker
oops, it's attached! thanks.
Tpt life
Certainly looks misaligned. You are raising the blade all the way up and making sure the tilt is at 90°, right?
houstonwoodworker
Yes. Blade is all the way up and it's at 90 degrees. Not sure how it became misaligned.
Sac
You try and stick a screwdriver up there to pull it back over into alignment? After a quick google search, I see this is not an uncommon problem.
houstonwoodworker
i just did that and it worked! So simple, can't believe I spent so much time trying to figure it out! Haha. Thanks for the tip. Is there a certain spray lubricant that you recommend for spraying inside table saw?

I think that a dry lube would be best. Get it as clean as possible then give it a good coat. If you use something wet, it will collect lots of dust. Tpt life
Agreed. Teflon Dry Lube is my favorite at the moment.
Tom Cancelleri
I used this on my Jet JTAS 10XL cabinet saw. I haven't had to lube or clean the trunion gears in 2 years, and it's still smooth as it was the day I cleaned it and lubed it up. http://www.woodcraft.com/product/147403/progold-lubricant-pg2000-16-ounce-pump-spray.aspx
drzaius
Wheel bearing grease. It's what SawStop recommends. They specifically warned not to use dry lubricants. It's what I used on my old saw as well & I only had to clean the gunk off once in 15 years.
houstonwoodworker
that Progold lubricant looks really cool and interesting. do you use it on your cast iron table as well, or just the mechanical parts inside?
houstonwoodworker
Hey everyone. Unfortunately I need help with his again. Same issues. I have tried everything listed already and it didn’t work. It seems like the bearing arm is moving just fine and is clean. For some reason, it doesn’t seem to move all the way in either direction bc the blade won’t lower beneath the surface and also won’t go high enough to engage the lock for blade changes. Anyone have any other ideas before I call jet? I’m hoping it’s something simple, really don’t want to have to take it all apart.
Tpt life
It has been over three years. What worked last time?
houstonwoodworker
I did all the same things: clean out, spray out, added lubricant, etc and didn’t help at all!
Mark J
It sounds like it's time for disassembly, but I'd talk to ajet before pulling out the wrenches.
Tpt life
I guess I never expected you lived with it for three years. That’s not my personality.
houstonwoodworker
Haha. No I didn’t live it it for 3 years. All the things from 2017 worked then and now I have the same issue, again!!
