Popular Post collinb
All this work forced my hand. Had to get the clamps off the wall -- too much hassle to get to was things store in front of them on rolling tables. Still, it's not got a lot of extra room. But it will suffice for a while. Design tip: for 6' tall sides make your angle cuts at 4 degrees on a 16" base.
Steve B Anderson
Very nice looking rack. I like the mobility, everything in my shop is on wheels also.
Tom King
Nice rack. I believe James Brown had that line in some movie, talking to Jennifer Love Hewitt, but I can't find the video.

collinb
I made two mistakes. 1. Should have used 3" wheels instead of 2". Smaller wheels are harder to pull over floor grit 2. The top should have been wider. The heads keep bumping each other. But it still works. Also ... Things tend to shake around when rolling it. Clamps fall off. Not good. But the solution is easy and cheap. Just two long bungie cords around it hold everything. Plus, it's easy to do/undo for use. 9 hours ago, mat60 said: I like your clamp holder.. I don't have many (wood block) clamps. Probably a good thing, but they're useful when needed. Still working on a good solution for them.
wdwerker
I learned that 3" wheels are the minimum the hard way just like you did. Bigger wheels are always the better choice I think. 8" wheels roll over concrete floor joints and air hoses with ease. I've become a big fan of casters that lock the wheel and the swivel with one lever.

I made the mistake of going to HF for 3” casters for my flip top bench, I mean come on, I had a 20% off coupon. Installed them, gave it a push/shove, took them off and returned them and got my $12 back. Then went to HD to get locking casters and after I got home with them, realized they only locked the wheels and not the swivel. Finally went to Rocklers and got the good stuff. But when two are locked that should eliminate the swivel issue. Of course having to lock just one is a bit more convenient.
Coop
You would thInk, but even locking all four wheels, it will still gyrate, if that’s the right word.

I can see that. Some swivel movement caused by torque/inertia.

Smooth action from horrible freight, NOT! Gyrate is the PERFECT word... -Ace-
wdwerker
Isn't gyrate also what shopping cart wheels inevitably end up doing ?

No at all, it's what you do behind the shopping cart in the frozen food aisle when it's tube top weather. -Ace-

I usually use these https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-in-Polyurethane-Swivel-Caster-with-Brake-4120545EB/203672194 Which did you choose from Rocker? http://www.rockler.com/3-heavy-duty-polyurethane-casters-optional-sizes The 3" doesn't look much different, but for the price. Though the steel appears heftier in the pic.
Coop
I got the second one shown at Rockler.
