Dust 1.1

To this point in my development the Dust Deputy is adequate.

Adequate, at least, with respect to matching my equipment and the ability to extract material.

What it lacks is collection volume.  I'm thinking of taking off the top of a bucket, raising it up, and hanging a bag.

Like a big units, but better matched for my smaller equipment.

The reason for this is planing. The DW735 puts out so much fluff that it fills a 5-gallon rather quickly. Too quick for my tastes.

I'd like to get to 10 or more gallons capacity.

Anyone here seen this done?

(Also, my compost bin is running out of space. I'm going to have to actually dispose my sawdust for the next year. Alas.)

You could attach the cyclone to a metal garbage can.

You could also cut the rim off a five gallon bucket, hot rod that into the lid of a steel garbage can, and then affix your Dust Deputy still attached to the 5 gal top to that rim. Then you could have the option of still using a smaller five gallon bucket for tasks generating a lesser volume of chips and dust.

I bought a six foot or so hose from Rockler and attached it to my 735. My wife folded a queen size flat sheet in half and stitched two sides. On one of the two stitched sides she cut into and sewed a sleeve to fit over the hose. The third side is open and I roll a 1 x 1 the width of the opening up into it and hold it in place with a couple of spring clamps to facilitate emptying. With the 735 you sure don't need a vacuum to remove the chips and dust from the planer. Works great.

I’ve got my dust deputy bolted to plywood on top of a 30 gallon trash can. @Chestnut is correct that seal must be tight for it to work property. For small work on the planer it took the advice of @K Cooper and used a band clamp to hold on a pillow case.

Eastern Iown, huh. I'm from SW Wisconsin. Bloomington.

Fair enough. I'll be in the area next Fall. 45 (Wow) year reunion.
