ChrisG-Canada
I was given approx 50 bd ft of this wood - 4/4 rough stock. I've been told it was maple, blond oak or even ash soI'm not sure. Wood identification isn't my strongest skill so I thought I would turn to the experts... ? phinds
Quercus Alba ( No relation to Jessica)That's quite a leap. White oak I can easily believe but there are so many indistinguishable species in the white oak group that specifying Quercus Alba would require a lot more information than is available in the pics. phinds
Hey I took a shot ! A name from botany in college popped into my head.Well it WAS the most likely shot since Quercus alba (literally "white oak") is sort of the poster child for the white oaks. phinds
Yup Caucasian oak can you say that and get away with it? We'll see ?Well, if you ever run across Quercus macranthera (a white oak), you'll HAVE to get away with it, since that's its name (also called Persian oak).
