Popular Post bigarm
Decided to try to turn a walnut bowl today. It will most likely crack because I did it to finish today instead of just roughing it and letting it dry, but I wanted to see if I could do it on my own. Not fancy, but turned out okay.

-MattK-
they tend to crack with you have lots of stresses in them... pith, branch, bark inclusion.... that looks pretty clean. It'll (probably) oval on you as it dries, but I'd bet you won't get a crack in that. and excellent work, by the way!!
pkinneb
Well I would say you did a lot more then try! Looks great!!

wdwerker
Weigh it on a digital scale. Track the weight, the slower it dries out the less chance of cracking. Oval-ing has no prevention or predictors.
Janello
That looks great. I would order another shed to keep that in!

thatCharlieDude
Beautiful bowl. Did if ever crack?
Guest Randy
Great bowl. It may not crack. Depends on how dry it was to begin with. If it's acclimated to your shop maybe won't crack.
