Popular Post wnaziri
I made this cabinet as a wedding present for a co-worker as an interim project while I work my way through the bigger projects. I really enjoyed making a similar cabinet earlier in the year and thought I would try a little variation on the theme. The last one I made had door. I had fun making and fitting the door but it was counter intuitive to add a door to a display cabinet. The cabinet is made of air dried walnut. The drawer front is maple with curly maple veneer facade and poplar for the interior components. For a touch of bling, I added a solid ebony drawer pull. The case joinery is sliding dovetails. I added a French cleat for hanging it flush to the wall. The finish is spray semi-gloss lacquer.

gee-dub
Nicely done. There is always something welcoming to me about a small wall cabinet. Great gift idea.

wnaziri
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I appreciate your input a lot since you have discerning eyes. 5 hours ago, mat60 said: Is the back several boards and what size is the cabinet? The back is 3 boards, 1/4 thick and shiplapped. The cabinet is 30" tall, 13 1/2" wide and 6 1/2" deep. The drawer is 4" in height. In building the case, I did something different: the top, bottom, sides, and shelf / divider are all different thickness. I like the effect. Thinking of doing another cabinet for our house. I have some a nice padauk board looking to be used.

Coop
I've never done sliding dovetails but am inclined to try them now. Sweet!
