Popular Post Klappco
Certain person in our house desperately wanted a new countertop and sink in the bathroom. She asked and I said OK. After two days of stressing I finally got up the courage to tell her that the stone she ordered would be a disaster on the old below-contractor grade cabinet featuring 1/2” and 1/4” construction. Thus I would build one. Also it was ugly as sin. Would be like putting diamond earrings on a hog. She said she didn’t want me to have to do that but it had to be done. Initially I had three days before the stone guys came to measure. I figured if I had the carcass in they could measure from that. Then get the drawers and doors done later. Poplar front and 3/4 Baltic ply with 1/2” back. Poplar for the doors and drawer fronts. Ugly oldie. Pocket screws for the face. Assembled in the bathroom. A bit too heavy to carry in by myself. In place and ready for the measurement guy. Working on the drawers. Hand cut through dovetails since they get a front later. First dovetails I have done. Cabinet painted and top is installed. Now make drawer fronts and doors. Done today. Doors line up and the gap is even!
Klappco
Also it was about 38 degrees at best in my garage shop during this build.

You build nice furniture and put it some place in your house, but cabinets and built-ins usually have to be built to "fit" between existing fixtures. Nicely done. 2

Coyote Jim
You made that look so easy! I'm a bit of a beginner and building something like that looks WAY out of my skill level. Do you mind telling me how long you have been woodworking?

The biggest challenge for this one was the time crunch to have it in before the counter measurement and dealing with the bitter cold in my garage/shop. This is the first one of these I have built. I have built a few small instruments and done quite a bit of household remodeling. I would consider myself an advanced beginner. I'm more of a musician and BBQ guy. Those areas are where my expertise is.
mat60
Very nice work and what is even more impressive is that you did it in the cold..
