Isaac
I've shown some of the progress on this one in a separate topic (baby boat). I'm looking for some design suggestions here. All the pieces here are loose and unattached and roughly layed out, so I'm looking for thoughts on this design layout. I'll start with my first thought. 1. I like this layout because at the upper half, there is a gap between the fox and the wall, which, to me, makes the fox really stand out. 2. Here is the same layout but with a full height walnut back. 3. Here is the text tightened up (I would cut the board shorter). 4. Shorter with the full background. And this is what I'm thinking of for the coat pegs.
Chestnut
I like the first one the best but your kerning is terrible . I don't see why the pegs wouldn't work like that. except for coats that don't have a hood and the loop to hang them by is too small to fit over the dowel. Might want to try out the loops on some coats that you have and see how different ones work. Also try a sweater/sweatshirt.
RichardA
Number 1, but bring the pegs in about an inch and a half from the ends.

Isaac
Thanks for taking a look everyone. Number 1 is my favorite choice as well. I will proceed with that plane and start fine tuning the exact layout of the letters. Gotta get that Kerning just perfect, right @Chestnut? Chestnut
I wish i didn't know what kerning was. The font i have to use for work has terrible kerning and i wish i as just blissfully ignorant.

wdwerker
With the wider kerning it looked like the fox was relieving himself between the letters.
Popular Post Isaac
Here is the final product. It was a fun project, but took more time than anticipated, and hand sanding the letters was a bit tedious, so I'm happy to be moving on. The client was thrilled with it, so that was nice.
wdwerker
Looks good and well proportioned. I use my Fein multimaster for sanding stuff like those letters. I've tried off brand abrasives but the black triangles that Fein sells work best. They also cost the most but they do a good job and last.
