Handheld at night with long lenses is difficult. Also through the atmosphere isn't helping you either. I take mostly landscape and have been working on wildlife. Not very good but this is a shot from our campsite the night before we got chased out by a momma bear and her cub. Popular Post curlyoak
Abvove is Brassavola nodosa. Mediocre looks for an orchid. But it is globally desired. At night after it has been in bloom for a few days, has a sweet and spicy aroma. Nick named the Lady of the night. This is Cattleya tenbrosa. Held in collections but no longer exists in its natural habitat. This is BC Besso. A primary hybrid, meaning both parents were species. The parents were the combination of the 2 species above. I did not pollinate and create the hybrid. Most hobbiest do not grow from seed. To do that would require a clean room along with very specialized tools. Hobbyists can harvest "keikis" from mature plants and grow them to blooming size. Keikis is Hawaiian for baby. Also plants can be divided. These 2 methods provide the best path to expanding an orchid collection.

Popular Post curlyoak
Above is Brassavola 'Little Stars' a primary hybrid. This is growing on a palm tree near the street in front of my house. If you walk by in the evening you will smell the aroma of sweet and spicy. Compared to other orchids it is not so special to look at. But it is globally desired for the aroma. A species from Peru. Cattleya maximum.
