roughsawn
After rough cut lumber has be thoroughly dried, can it warp or twist being stored vertically, against a wall? vs keeping it stored flat on a floor with stickers in between layers?
Popular Post wtnhighlander
Wood can warp, no matter how you store it. In my experience, vertical is no worse for warping than stacked & stickered, but it sure is more convenient!

curlyoak
If on concrete, put some scraps on the floor.

Even after it is dry. Stickered after it's dry isn't necessary for long storage and is just eating space. I store a lot of lumber vertical and it works great. Just try and get as close to vertical as you can with out the boards falling. Stored this way it's much easier to access.
gee-dub
I store anything longer than 10' on horizontal racks just due to height limits. Other stuff goes vertical and this has been my main method for many years. While shuffling things around to move into the new shop I setup a temporary vertical area as shown in this thread.
Isaac
I'm looking forward to getting out of my (short) basement space and into a garage where vertical is a reasonable option!
samurayjack
You can do it any way you want, but I want you to know that I lay the timber horizontally. It's easier to get.
Popular Post Coop
I just moved all of mine from horizontal to vertical, as “it’s easier to get”. Ever been to a library where the books are stacked on top of each other?
