Dyami Plotke
I've committed to making a Berger Board for my Cousin as a wedding gift. A Berger Board is a Skateboard made from four (4) 1/8" layers, as described in Matt Berger's The Handmade Skateboard. Since the Wedding is in less than two (2) weeks, I need to get my butt in gear.So far I've settled on a design, decided on the wood and obtained all the needed materials.Tonight I began pre-construction by fabricating one (1) of the small torsion boxes needed for the board glue up. Hopefully I'll be able to finish the second torsion box later tonight and begin in the skateboard proper tomorrow. Edited August 31, 2015 by Dyami Plotke There was an issue with the original photo link.

wdwerker
I saw a guy using hydraulic jacks to add the pressure. He was pushing against the main beam under his house from the basement shop.
Coop
Even though you're under the gun for completion, take some pics as it progresses. I'd like to see this sucker go together. Edited August 31, 2015 by K COOPER

Dyami Plotke
Build sounds cool. I can't see the pic either. So was this a requested gift? It's a surprise gift. My cousin is a skater & graphic designer. When I read the Handmade Skateboard I knew I wanted to make one. My cousin's wedding seemed the perfect opportunity to. For graphics I'm using a modified version of his personal logo, with his fiancee's initials & their wedding date added.

shaneymack
Looks good Dyami. What exactly will you use these for? Just for clamping pressure?
Dyami Plotke
Looks good Dyami. What exactly will you use these for? Just for clamping pressure?Matt Berger uses it to distribute pressure along the laminate as they are glues together. By offsetting them, and adding a block to one, I'll glue in the kick at the tail. Dyami Plotke
Not much done tonight. After dealing with the kids, I didn't have it in me to clear the window seat materials out of the way. I settled on selection my lumber and setting up the bandsaw to resaw. Hopefully tomorrow night I'll get some work done.

Dyami Plotke
Another late night on the Berger Board. Tonight I managed to find the resawing. Tomorrow I'll cut the resaw pieces to width and hopefully glue them up.

Dyami Plotke
More work accomplished on the Berger Board tonight. I squared the edges of the purple heart veneer which had twisted badly. Then I ripped all the veneers to width. Finally I laid them out and used relative dimensioning to determine the with of the plywood for the core.
