Llama
It would be cool if it were on fire. I mean, not to catch your tree on fire, but just the inside... on fire.

drzaius
Great idea. Now, to step it up a bit, do several, each with different exotic hardwood shavings. Carefully sanded & finished with ARS of course.
Jfitz
that's clever! Hmm. maybe I'll give my brother (also a woodworker) a big clear plastic bag full of sawdust as a present! (would save me from having to empty it....)

Yeah yeah I definitely wouldn't go out of my way for these. Just swept the floor and gathered shavings. 9 hours ago, drzaius said: Great idea. Tom Cancelleri
I did the same exact thing on Thursday, except I filled mine with planer chips and spax screws.

Is it a lamination of two woods then shaved or just the grain?
wtnhighlander
Beware, guys! These things have a one-Christmas lifespan. I made some a couple years ago, and after 12 months of storage, the shavings had all settled to about 1/4 of their original volume. Enjoy them now!

drzaius
Sweet board man. Hey, here's an idea. Create a miniature of that board & assemble it inside the glass bulb. Better than a ship in a bottle.
