Popular Post RichardA
While working on another project, there are blank spaces that I use to complete a second project. The main project will be complete after a visit from Mr. Ken Cooper later this week. But the one I'm showing here is a paying customer. {My favorite kind} It's a small Trestle bench, 13" deep 46" wide, and 18" tall all from figured Cherry, Comments welcome.
Chet
Thats a good looking bench. Looks like some pretty nice figure in the trestle and the bench seat.
wdwerker
Looks great overall ! I really like the little "V" in the center of the trestle feet. It just adds a nice detail.
wtnhighlander
Nice work, Rick! How do you size your wedges so the decorative bulge on the top doesn't interefere with the fit?
RichardA
I just make the taper long, and do 10 or 20 test fits, then finish the top of the wedge to look the way I want. In this case I wanted three round ends on the trestle stretcher. There's two coats of Danish oil, and three coats of poly everywhere and a fourth on the top, then buffed out with Johnson's wax. It's more like a controled drawbore, with just one side flat. Get it where you want it, drive slow.

I believe these are called "tusked tenons."
