Tobykanobe
Trying to get my ducks in a row for my first major project, the WW Miter saw cabinet. This will be my first piece of shop furniture. Being that it's shop furniture, what is the rule of thumb for finishing it? What product would you use? Something easily repeatable, maybe a little waterproofing just in case. pkinneb
It really comes down to personal preference. Some will say don’t finish at all at the other end of the spectrum are folks like me who view their shop just as I would any ww project I do. In my case i used 3 coats of satin polyurathane on everything but my bench which has an oil finish.
Popular Post Jfitz
I use LOF* finish. It's something I'm always familiar with, always have in the shop, and - since it's shop furniture, it never really needs to stand up (visually or critically) to a customer's environment. *LOF = left over finish. whatever I have from the most recent project. For me, it's usually some flavor of wipe-on-poly.
Larry Moore
I use what ever I still on it
RichardA
Use whatever makes your shoes dance. Poly, oil or nothing.
Chet
I usually spray a water borne finish Like General Finishes High Performance. Mainly because it is fast and drys fast. Some of my early shop furniture pieces I used Deft Lacquer but the smell of that stuff really lingers for days.
Brendon_t
LOF is my finish of choice on shop furniture.

Popular Post gee-dub
Shellac. I have cabinets that have nothing else on them that are 15 years old with no ill-effects other than some yellowing. Here's new - and 6 years later -
