h3nry Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 That's truely astonishing work joe ... but we need a video of it working Edit ... found the video in the other thread ... amazing!
Dave H Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 WOW! Unbelievable work my hats off to you sir.
wtnhighlander Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 All I can say is WOW! And I hope the next step down't involve that baseball bat ... 1
Mark J Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 Joe that's just amazing! I love the title, too. I have to admit that seeing only the parts and pieces without the big picture I was beginning to think that M7 might stand for seven degrees of madness . But that is a real statement piece! Is there a term for the mechanical equivalent of a calliope?
Chet Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 That is by far the best looking and most ornate Rube Goldberg machine I have ever seen. Very well done.
Tom King Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 It's absolutely awesome!!! Thanks for posting about it. I tried to find the clip from Romancing the Stone, but couldn't find it:
Popular Post joe mendel Posted January 20, 2022 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 20, 2022 Rube Goldberg was a poser. All that cat did was draw crazy contraptions. None of Goldberg's designs had to work, it was all conjecture on his part. I pulled out a shizits amount of hair to get this to work without flaws. 3
joe mendel Posted January 20, 2022 Author Report Posted January 20, 2022 Some people call this kind of sculpture: Gravitram, Kugelbahn, marble run, marble maze, or a rolling ball sculpture. I was never setting out to re-invent the marble run. Instead I wanted to make common gadgets and gizmos which I have seen and dress them up with various embellishments which I use in making period style furniture. 1
wtnhighlander Posted January 21, 2022 Report Posted January 21, 2022 As artful as the contraption itself, was the way you lured us all in, by starting with some smartly turned bun feet .... and ending with this! 1
Popular Post joe mendel Posted January 21, 2022 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 21, 2022 Sorry to say but this is not the end, this is still foreplay. There will be more pictures. 2 2
treeslayer Posted January 21, 2022 Report Posted January 21, 2022 Stunning work Joe, I’m in awe, what’s the final resting place for it ? It should be on display somewhere so others can be as amazed as we are

It was so frustrating at times to get things to do what I wanted the marbles to do. 2
gee-dub Posted January 29, 2022 Report Posted January 29, 2022 All Hail Joe! (MIB reference). That is a thing of beauty. I have loved "marble things" since building them with dad as a child. You have taken the form to new levels. Just great stuff! I totally get the thread on the odd looking bun feet now . Perfect for your beast. 1
