wtnhighlander
Anyone seeing local prices like this for walnut? https://nashville.craigslist.org/for/d/columbia-walnut-lumber-kiln-dried-slabs/7561606802.html I realize CL sales are often sketchy, but this seems pretty reasonable according to what I currently see elsewhere. treeslayer
Seems like a good price, I’m paying north of 7 bucks a bf here for Kiln dried, take a moisture meter with you and let us know how you make out.
Coop
My most recent price sheet (3/2022) shows $12.75 for 4/4 and $14.75 for 8/4. I could frame a house with your prices
Popular Post wtnhighlander
I don't plan on going after any of that walnut. The drive is so far, I'd rathet just add a few more miles, stop by @RichardA's for a visit, then go see @Spanky. 2

Chestnut
For ungraded, questionable dried walnut that's a bit expensive for my taste in 4/4. For thicker that could be ok. I bought some 6/4 #1 for $8/BF. I'm probably a bad person to ask though as i buy wholesale. No picking through a stack, it comes bundled and loaded on my trailer with a fork lift. So far i like it far better than retail as the stack isn't picked over so the color match is usually excellent, and all the good pieces aren't taken.
BillyJack
I will never buy rough lumber. Even if I:buy 500 ft from a lumber supplier, it will be planed and visible while unloading. I remember rejecting a 1000bd ft because the oak was too red. They gave it to us at 1/2 the cost so they didn’t have to reload it.
Askland09
For rough stock I'm paying about $5/bf. Skip planed they charge around $7.50/bf. I typically go the rough stock route because I'm one of those people that actually likes dimensioning and squaring boards.
BillyJack
There are people here in Missouri selling lumber all the time. It’s always about location and how little they will sell at one time.

Valleyslim
I must be getting scammed. I guess this what happens when your the only wood dealer in the area. Woodcraft is like 16bf but really bad quality. This place isn't much better but atleast the walnut is somewhat the same color. Whenever I visit family in California I load up with as much wood as I can. Also don't let that superior fool you, thats the only walnut they have lol
Coop
As much as I love walnut, I would go elsewhere or find me some cherry. I quit buying walnut when it went to $15 bf a year ago.
