Cherry drop box

Customer asked for a drop box for inside their business so people could drop off checks and correspondence thru a slot in the top and it had to lock so I came up with this, cherry with some walnut, didn’t want you folks to think I was sitting down on my brain and not in the shop, thanks for looking

A little trial and error but not too bad, those strips are 1/16” X 5/8”, and are bent dry, no steaming, this is the doors on a cabinet I made a while back, strips are 1/8” X 3/4” , those doors are probably 14 X 20 inches, oak and walnut.

Dave do you have any pictures of how you mount the weave in the door frames?

Just plain awesome Dave.  Love the woven front panel.  I am a big fan of using sapwood as a design element so kudos on that as well.

Basic frame and panel Chet with a groove cut slightly wider than the strips and 3/8” deep, glue the ends and one side and weave the strips in, then glue the other side and clamp, here’s a picture of my test piece
