Mark J Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 The server sure seems to be running slow today, at least for me. Is there a problem? Quote
Beechwood Chip Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 It was a down for a bit. I checked with one of the "down detector" sites, and it said that it was down for everyone (not just me). It does seem to be really slow pretty often. It's slow now. 1 Quote
gee-dub Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 I wondered if we had changed services somehow. It has been slow lately. There are a couple of Charter hops in the path that are stupid-slow. Quote
drzaius Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 I've noticed the general slowness for some time. I wasn't able to access the site at all this morning. Quote
Beechwood Chip Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 It's been intermittently slow or down all day. Quote
Coop Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 Whew! I thought it was on my end! But …………………..it’s…… …………. not….……..! 2 Quote
legenddc Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 I gave up yesterday. Seems to be working okay so far today. Quote
difalkner Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 Finally popped in for me, as well. Down all day yesterday but I figured it would come back soon. Quote
Mark J Posted February 26 Author Report Posted February 26 It was totally down for me todat from 7 am to after 9 am cst. Quote
Popular Post Ron Swanson Jr. Posted February 27 Popular Post Report Posted February 27 Glad to see it seems to be back to normal. I couldn't access for 2 days and was afraid it just got shut down. This is the only WW forum that i actually enjoy coming to. The other ones I've tried are definitely not my cup of tea. 5 Quote
Von Posted February 27 Report Posted February 27 Echoing others, glad to see it back. Thanks to those who worked to fix things. 2 Quote
Tom King Posted February 27 Report Posted February 27 Does anyone know of an easy way to save all the attachments in a user's gallery? I think I have a lot of pictures in there that I might not even be able to find any more otherwise. 1 Quote
wtnhighlander Posted February 28 Report Posted February 28 @Tom King, I haven't seen any tools built into the forum interface to allow that, but you can certainly right-click and save each image. I have also used a tool called httrack (https://www.httrack.com/) to save local, static copies of entire websites before. Its a bit old, and some sites might have protection against such activity, but it might do the job. 1 Quote
Mark J Posted March 3 Author Report Posted March 3 Server seemed slow again today. At least it was giving me trouble. 1 Quote
Beechwood Chip Posted March 3 Report Posted March 3 It was slow for me, too, and was briefly down. I put the announcement back up. 1 Quote
Von Posted March 3 Report Posted March 3 I'm curious: do the mods have the ability to email updates to members if warranted by an outage? Quote

Popular Post Coop Posted March 4 Popular Post Report Posted March 4 It’s a heck of a lot faster than Houston’s traffic so I can tolerate it! 1 3 Quote
Ron Swanson Jr. Posted Wednesday at 03:22 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:22 PM I wonder if any one (regulars) would be interested in swapping email on the event that this site goes down and doesn't come back up? I'm guessing that the tens of dollars it pulls in each year won't keep the lights on forever. 1 Quote
Von Posted Wednesday at 07:01 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 07:01 PM DM'ed you. Happy to share with anyone who wants it. Quote
Coop Posted Thursday at 02:25 AM Report Posted Thursday at 02:25 AM I would think that Marc or whoever runs the show nowadays would give us fair warning should they decide to call it quits. 2 Quote
Von Posted Thursday at 12:27 PM Report Posted Thursday at 12:27 PM I'm sure Marc would continue to treat us well. As we've seen, there are things beyond his control that can break. E.g. I don't know what company hosts the site but they can go belly up. 1 Quote
