I made the wenge drawer pulls on my son's desk with just a couple milling operations. No templates required. I dig em. It's funny you posted that. I'm in the middle of messing with some wenge seeing about making them.
Brendon_t
What do you guys think? Cove on each side, taper from the base into the top. I don't quite love it, not sure what else to do. Woodenskye
Brendon, how long is the piece right now? My initial thoughts are it is a bit chunky. In the last picture, if you made the width the same as what is left over from the 2 coves would help. Then re cut the coves, or just do the cove on the top. Brendon_t
The handle as it sits is 5" at the base and about 7/8" wide.
Guest
Looks pretty good to me but I agree it is a bit chunky. I don't think it needs to stick out from the drawer so much.
Popular Post Eric.
Yeah I'd say cut the flat part off and just leave the cove plus about 1/8".
Popular Post Brendon_t
Feedback taken and appreciated. Here it is shortened about 1/2" in length and height. It feels good in hand and I think looks decent but I don't really have an eye for the creative. I What do you guys think? It is double sided taped on.
Eric.
Looks good at first glance. More pics at more angles needed to give an informed opinion...
wtnhighlander
Works for me, but I'm not exceedingly artistic, either.
wdwerker
Looks better. Maybe a slight angle on the ends or the same cove as on the sides ? I realize that they would be easier to cut before you coved the sides.
JosephThomas
I like it. I tend to prefer them with just the cove on the bottom, but that's just me. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Eric.
You might also try them flipped around to where the bevels are going the opposite direction.

Dknapp34
I think the pulls look fine, but they are a bit boring. Especially since your case looks so nice. Do you have a lathe? Maybe something round would look nice. I made some turned wenge pulls for a cabinet that were thicker in the middle and thinner at the ends. I loved the look of them. My wife did not, so I didn't end up using them. Alternatively, something not turned but with a slight bowtie shape might look nice. Something like this would look awesome, but I'm not sure what kind of bit you would need to make it:

Dknapp34
Good call. I'm going to have to try those next time I do drawers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Brendon_t
It's with a heavy heart that I post this next picture. After getting the doors hung... I kind of hate them. Their too boring and plain. No visual interest at all. They are functional. They fit perfectly and the blum hardware is great but... ugh. I'm going to go back to my glass supplier and price out some frosted plate glass.
wdwerker
Those are kinda big to be so plain. It's not that they look bad they just cover the opening. Frosted glass can ge pricey, maybe mirror as a option ? Smoked mirror ?
Guest
No better time to learn veneering . Order some mahogany crotch and go to town.
Popular Post Eric.
You're crazy, they look fine to me. Mahogany is not a flashy species. It's subtle, warm, relaxing, classy. It gets better with age. Glass is cold. And no one wants to see your pantsuits.
Guest
Did you apply a finish yet? It is hard to tell from the picture. If you haven't, an oil-based finish will help quite a bit.
Brendon_t
Yes, 4 coats of Enduro var, I'm going to leave it for a bit and see if it grows on me. If not, I've got a bunch of waterfall quilt buying bubinga veneer I may sacrifice and finally use. If I hung my kilts up, would you want to see them E? Just Bob
I think the doors look great. You can show the kilts, but please don't model them!
Alan G
The doors look great. Take some time with them and I am sure you will like them. Don't think glass is a good option.
