Tobykanobe
My new wood shop is finally coming together but one thing I need to build is a bench for my Hitachi chop saw/miter saw. I've been looking in the usual places for ideas and plans and there are plenty, but was wondering if any of you are head over heels about any particular build. As always, I appreciate the input! Isaac
Marc has a guild project for this. Detailed plans and instructional videos are provided. https://thewoodwhispererguild.com/product/miter-station/
lewisc
If you pre order Marc’s new joinery book by the 16th, you can get a free guild project (mitre station is included). The thing I like about his station is no fence. Seems like a great idea.
Chestnut
Yeah the no fence thing is nice. Never really understood why people had them to begin with, other than having a wall to keep your junk out of your cutting area. There are tons of miter station ideas. Mine has always just been on a table i threw together quickly. Just depends on how fancy you want to go.
Tobykanobe
Thanks guys. I’ll check out Marc’s build.
Mark J
I'll just throw this out for your consideration. I have the DeWalt stand which I use for my Makita SCM, and I have never wished for more. I had to do minor modifications to fit the Makita (a stack of washers to jack up the height of the lumber supports). But the whole thing is easy to clean around and move about the shop, and at least once the whole thing has gone to another location temporarily. Tobykanobe
Where is his joinery book at in the store. I’m not seeing it. It’s early though! I have a portable Hitachi stand with the Hitachi saw. Eventually I want to get a nicer saw that slides out, but this saw will do for now. Then, the Hitachi will be for off-site projects around the property or for future customers.

man of wood
as you said, there are so many designs out there...... I have only one thing.... you don't need a fence other than the one on the saw... have fun
BillyJack
here is a few...i have to have at least 12' each way...
BillyJack
the problem with bench 2 and 3 is the saw can be set back a bit too much causing you to lean a lot. better towards the front unless its a slider...
RonW
Mines not the fanciest. But works well for me. I can cut 9’ to the left and 20’ to the right.
Bankstick
Wish I had that much room for my chop saw. Mine is mounted on an old grill stand. Top is a piece of laminate sink cut-out.
BillyJack
Depends on how much work you do with one. If you do a lot of cabinet work a dedicated setup is a need, but if only once here and there a portable chop saw is perfect...If does kill your wall for future options.. ..Kev
This is the one I built late last year / early this year. Didn't have a picture handy but, this is the last video that I did on the bench which shows it fairly well.. It's about 8' on either side of the saw.
