I measured my 1000 chip poker case and it’s 2.25 and I have 4.25 in the center..

Did you hear that? I’m brainstorming..

If I use storage all is fine and I need only build up for the playing surface. If I don’t build for storage I need to make the beauty ring, wrap the inside edges and drop down the playing surface which will be more of pit poker…

I’m also considering pin lights around the playing surface. I’ve seen a lot of guys use Christmas lights. Something I’m considering.Maybe make the inne4 chip ring removable or make the inner ring removeable with wiring

Would they be shaded from view?  Personally I find looking into lights annoying, but that's hust me.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone complain about the view. Normally they will have an area behind a CNC strip that houses the lights. The aluminum or wood strip blocks the hardware, but allows light penetration. I think it’s low light. In my case I’ll make a 1/2 x2.5 band along the inside and drill tapered holes on the inside using a drill press and wrap with a another 1/8 Masonite with 1/8-1/4 holes and cover in walnut. Followed by clear plastic..Or paint it black. 
 

That’s the beauty of creating something new. My challenge is being cheap.lol

Finally back to the build. I cut the  masonite.  I'll use the upholstery gun to hold it in place.

What is an upholstery gun?

Wire staples. I believe they are 22guage. it won’t shot thru 1/8 Masonite.

I’ll need a minimum of 4 layers which will be 8 rips of 4 5/16. 

 

Normally I just kerf cut plywood for the radius.

Shops heating up. Hopefully I can get this banded today. Because the plywood is just slightly warped, so I’ll have to come up with a plan to keep it flat while I wrap it. Not sure I still have an old roller for wide glue ups. I’ll have to make something...

I’m really going have to dig in the wood pile tomorrow. If I don’t find more cherry for the outside radius , it’s going to be walnut..I couldn’t find any cherry veneer the other day. Plenty walnut and maple..

All the layers are glue and dried. Total width of 49 5/8. Won't get much done today. Maybe the cup holder sides tomorrow.

When I shipped the last one , I honestly don’t remember weight. I remember them charging for footage on the truck..We agreed to not ship the glass.

it’s not actually that  heavy, but because of its radius, it is bulky to move..
