Popular Post gee-dub
File this under 'stupid human tricks'. I keep all those random gift and other throw-away cards. If you go through your pile of them you will find many that are 1/32" or at least within the tolerance of my calipers. Tape a dozen or so into a block and drill a hole near one corner. Use an old key chain, beaded chain or even a wire twisty to keep them corralled. Now I have a known 1/32" spacer to set reveals on things that use them; they can be stacked up to increase the gap. On larger floating panel tops like this I forgo the space balls. I lay a dotted-line bead of silicone rubber in the receiving groove, loosely assembly the parts and slip in the spacers before clamping. There are other things holding the assembly together, the silicone is just a space ball alternative. The panel now floats for movement and remains centered. This is just an example as a panel of this size needs a little more breathing room but, you get the idea. The cards are warped enough that stacking them is not a replacement for setup bars. In a captured gap though, they have worked quite well for me for years and don't take up much room.

Next time you buy groceries just get a bunch of them, put 10 dollars on each, and then use the to buy the food.

wdwerker
I use plastic laminate sample chips as spacers/shims . They already have a hole in them. You,can, pluck,a few from the display at any big box store or just ask at any cabinet shop for old out of date sample chains. Playing cards are great for much finer adjustment spacers. collinb
Just came from Lowes, took 5 ea. of Best Buy and Outback and didn't run them thru the register! Starbucks wants people to take their cards. They put them out in series and so have developed a collector cult. Use them in your shop. When they're old enough you can display them even if, like me, you don't drink the stuff. Sent from my MotoE2(4G-LTE) using Tapatalk
