krtwood
There's a special place in hell for whoever came up with this idea. Why? Why? WHY???? Note this is just something I came across looking at listings, not my problem. The garage is bigger than the dang house is why I was looking at it.
Chet
If I recall a feature like that was pretty common in the 50's - 60's contemporary design. but it is different looking in this day and age.

Popular Post wdwerker
Their special place in hell is right next to the place for decorators that paint solid walnut paneling white because the room is too dark !
wtnhighlander
I vaguely recall the front doors of the house on "The Brady Bunch" had centered knobs. Mid-century modern, at its finest!
gee-dub
I hear the Ministry of Ergonomics sending the Thought Police for this rascal right now.
drzaius
Besides being just about the ugliest doors ever, they're awkward as hell to open. You should be able to negotiate a good discount off the price, cause you'd have to put in a new kitchen first thing.
minorhero
My grandmother had a front door like that. It was actually pretty cool if essentiallyimpossible to replace the lock. I also had cabinets like that in a house I rented. Works a little better as a door due to the size. as a cabinet it's really annoying. Tom Cancelleri
Actually the real crime here is red oak.... Red oak and cathedral grain in the middle of straight grain. It's like they didn't even try to grain match or give two craps about how awful it looks. Not to mention that horrendous design, that person should be fed feet first into a wide belt drum sander.

freedhardwoods
I install cabinets for cabinet shops. The customer is always right...............no matter how dumb their idea is, and I've seen some pretty dumb ones. 17 hours ago, wdwerker said: Their special place in hell is right next to the place for decorators that paint solid walnut paneling white because the room is too dark ! I took a shop owner to a house yesterday to measure for some cabs in a mud room. We were able to get a peak at the kitchen cabs. They had a sloppy white paint job over natural cherry cabs. She said they were too dark, so she painted them.
Bankstick
My parents built a house in 1970. It had a very expensive, high quality oak paneling in the upstairs den and kitchen/breakfast area. Wife and kids and I moved back to town and was showing it to the kids. I stopped as the owner was in the front yard. He invited us in to see the house. That paneling was painted white! Arrrrggghhh! What was even worse, the grooves in the paneling stuck out like the proverbial sore thumb. I was sick.
