Popular Post sjm1580
Been a while since I have given an update. Lots of learning from struggles with epoxy. Using West System #105 resin coupled with 207 hardener, and first batch would not cure. After getting some terrific and timely advice from fellow forum member hhh I purchased two electric blankets and after a few days the curing process was off and running. Next epoxy fill was same mixture coupled with black graphite powder. That batch is under the blankets and looks good so far.
wdwerker
And hhh's legacy lives on.
Brendon_t
He LIVES!!! Question, mixing graphite into epoxy makes it absolute black. Were you trying to match the walnut? If so, I hope you tested on scrap and like the way you look because those black lines are definately going to be noticable.

Not up on the nuances of the Forum (He LIVES!!!), but yes I did do a test piece and the graphite was a dead on match for the existing pecky areas in the walnut. After sanding it back this morning I am really pleased with the look.

wdwerker
I did some snooping. HHH does look around on the board sometimes but he doesn't post here anymore.

If we say his name 3 times, do you think he may reappear?

sjm1580
The side conversation is to advanced for my simple mind. Regardless, his insight and assistance was incredibly timely and helpful. More pictures to follow: Steve

What's next on your build list? Next is the cabinet for my router. Then desk and bedroom furniture. Can't wait!
