Popular Post Coop
A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I attended a family get together at her cousins house, outside on the patio. Cousin showed me an interesting piece of fire wood log and asked if I wanted it. This is what’s left of the outside of the log after I sliced it into 1/2” thick pieces. Since her family was furnishing the venison and beer, I brought the cigars and tequila. I asked cousin what cigar he was smoking these days and he said that since he was retired and not having to drug test for refineries anymore, he gave up cigars for “ a finer smoke”. We continued to enjoy the evening smoking mine. A couple of days later, I looked at the log and decided it was too small for anything except a decorative box so, as mentioned, I sliced it up on the band saw and stickered it for a few days. He must have had the log a couple of years as the mc was relatively low. The outside grain was too neat to cut off so I decided to make a live edge box, which I had never done before and give it to cuz for his stash. I Although there is ample overlap of the lid to lift it, I got on line to see if I could be a little more creative. I found this, in case he forgot where he put his favorite smoke. The finish is ARS and mellow yellow!
treeslayer
Nice work Coop! Now if he can just remember where he put the box, maybe next to the munchies will help him find it
Chet
That is some pretty interesting firewood. The box came out real nice. I think you should print out a real nice brownie recipe for him and put it in the box. 1

wtnhighlander
Nice box, Coop. Very interesting bit of wood. Trying to guess at a species, but those I know with that color don't match in grain, and vice-versa. Nick name it 'doobiewood'?

Chestnut
That wood is interesting looking and pretty. Good work. Is it maybe Live Oak?
Mark J
Nicely done. It must have been a good sized piece to be able to slice it? Was the original piece of firewood more of a log?

Never thought about live oak and you’re probably right as we have a lot around here. On 1/26/2022 at 7:52 AM, Mark J said: Nicely done. It must have been a good sized piece to be able to slice it? curlyoak
I'm turned on! Nice work Coop. Where did you get that knob? I need one. Texas is extremely penal on weed. Even this stash box, which is considered paraphernalia. $500 fine and possibly more. So be careful and don't let the man get you! I qualified for medical weed. A help for all my aches and pain. And a great enhancement to my retirement!
