wdwerker
Nice drawing ! A pyramid cap might look good on the posts. The dowel hole would keep them in place. 4 slight curves would be in keeping with your design.

Eric.
Ah, so two identical beds that stack. Cool. Hope you're using some ultra heavy-duty hardware. I'd hate to be the younger of the two kids. LOL I predict your next commission will be...wait for it...a ladder.
Llama
Eric, the ladder and supports are in the plans as well. There's a regulation that governs such things. Rails have to be so tall, and on both sides. And to your point Eric, I agree 100%.

Eric.
Looks awesome, Mel. I'm interested in seeing the details of the interlocking whatever you used to interlock...

wdwerker
Great design ! The curves really create lots of interest. So no safety rail on the upper bunk ? Did you make the bookshelves in the background ?

I wanted to see how far the mattress sat on the bed to know how much room I had to work with for the rail. I did not build the bookshelf. Guest
Looks great Mel. I am sure you clients' kids became used to sleeping on the floor, but are thrilled to have a bed nonetheless.

Tom Cancelleri
They do look great. I love the legs. If they really want to they can make a game of not having a top safety rail. We'll call it "Who wakes up in pain on the floor?"
wtnhighlander
I grew up using the top bunk of a bed before side rails were common. One face-plant to the hardwood floor was all it took to cure my tossing & turning. Tuck those sheets in tightly.

And it literally was right on my face, and not on carpet.
