thewoodwhisperer
I have received a few reports of the forum being very slow. I also hear there are lots of database erros. But here's the problem, I am not seeing them on my system. Some days the forum is a little slower than other days, but I never wait more than a second or two between page/post changes. So I need to determine just how widespread this issue is and if there is even anything I can do about it. And just an FYI, I usually don't like to do these types of performance survey posts because just about everyone says a site is slow when asked, . So when I say slow, I mean REALLY slow. Not just a little sluggish. Thanks folks.
Onboard
I’ve noticed that the Forum has been REALLY SLOW for the past 2 to 3 weeks. Sometimes it does not come up. However, today it’s been running quite well. So unless I see slow behavior again I’ll consider it a non-issue for now.
Ben@FineWoodworking
Not really a factor over here. There have been a few times over the past few weeks the it has hung up. I find that is the case with just about any site though. No complaints here.
Vic
It's zooming along now. I don't know what you did or IP Board did..but, awesome! Btw, this is the first time I've been on here that it is so fast. It's loading immediately.
Vic
I thought I'd come back and let you know, all your sites are screamin' fast now. Thanks for whatever you did!
samhell
I check the forum every day or so (since the beginning) and I haven't noticed it being slow at all...
Mister Pants
It seems to vary in the short time I've been here. There's times there's no lag, and others where a page refresh takes upwards of a minute (usually during the day when I should be you know working and not reading message boards...) harmsdph
Haven't seen any issues myself (slowness or errors)...
petersb
Well it was really slow earlier today and I thought about complaining to the management too. It looks like somebody beat me to it! Everything is working really fast now. I think that it heard us talking about it.
thewoodwhisperer
I should have mentioned that the software was being upgraded earlier today, which may have been the reason for any issues experience this afternoon. woodhack
Sometimes a forum page won't load but if I click refresh it usually loads. The site is fast enough. I (nor anyone else) should expect Google loading speeds. Ignore those ignoramuses, Marc!
harderd
I have not had any issues. Great site!!!!
spwiz5578
Marc, If anything, the software update made what was good better. Sometimes, the forum, and your main site for that matter, load a little slow, but I'm not talking click, get up, have a cup of coffee before returning slow. Just a little slow. Today it seems to be nice and snappy. Thanks! Sean
bywc
Yeah forum is running really slow this morning compared to the past, The main site I think the problem is the sheer amount of content on just the initial page its like trying to load 4-5 websites all at the same time. I decided to run a bandwidth speed test at http://www.bandwidthplace.com/ just to make sure it wasn't just my internet connect being slow this is the results so I dont think its just my connection making it slow. Download Speed: 8081 kbps (1010.1 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 495 kbps (61.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Wednesday, December 01, 2010 7:19:38 AM
Renzo
Hi, I have found it slow in the past, but it's been better the last day or two. What i've experienced is the forum itself being slow to load and then also slow when going into different areas. As I said, seems better though For what it's worth I've got up to 50mb/s download and 2mb/s upload. Now if i only ever got that download speed i'd be in heaven. Usually averaging around 25mb/s. I've also used the iphone IBP app a lot and have not had any issues, if that's of any interest. Love the app, btw.. makes browsing in bed easy peasy

mlehikoinen
Most of the time it is pretty quick, but on occasion, it sits and spins for quite some time and I find myself going to other tabs and coming back later. I had just tried to view a pic someone had posted and after about a minute, I ended up clicking the back button and moving on.
Nick2cd
i haven't noticed any issues of lag or slowness. everything has been within normal limits here on my end.
Guest Trace
I find that sometimes the site is a little slower that other times. Since I type at the "Let's see if I can find where the k is" spee , this no problem. The forums load at a respectable rate as far as I am concerned. Most computer problems are in the users computer. If you have a "Super-duper Whizbang 4 Gazillion Gig" unit the site may seem slower. As hectic as things are today, I enjoy not being in a hurry. Beechwood Chip
Seems fine to me. I saw some MySQL problems yesterday.
Pete Bennett
Considering the CRAP ADSL (broadband) speeds you get in France I would say amazing speeds except perhaps on a Sunday. Problem is Marc you've become so World FAMOUS half the world is trying to access you all at once. Keep it up my friend we all love yer. Dan S
I've seen some issues over the last week or so, but only at times that i would consider high load periods. With forum software it's almost never the software that's slow, it's almost always the database. My guess would be that the forum is getting pounded by bad search web crawlers. Usually a crawler from a reputable search engine, won't request more than one url per domain per second. However, I have seen some crawlers out of mainland China that crawl as fast as they can, and bring forum databases to their knees.
DaBear
I think it's been reasonable from here (eastern Canada). Anytime it's slow for me, I find other sites are the same, thus I blame our !#@$#!y internet connection here.. My 2cents..
flairwoodworks
The day I signed up (a week or so ago), I was kicked off multiple times because of a Driver Server Level Error, though I think it said the problem was at my end. The issue disappeared the next day and everything runs well now.
SignWave
I'm getting delayed response from time to time. On at least one occasion, when I refreshed my screen after a timeout error in my browser, I saw that a forum reply had been posted twice.
