wouldwurker
Rounded over and sanded down. Finally found a use for that little cut you get if the round over bit is set too high. Made a good looking flat top to the boat. wdwerker
Looks like the middle boat has a"oops " in it.
Rapid Roger
You also could have done the cabin that way too to keep the weight down.

wouldwurker
Drilled the mast and smokestack holes and epoxied on the roof (see if you can guess which piece of walnut I ebonized with iron acetate) Officially at the crazy anal retentive finishing stage....you know...the part where I add 3 weeks to an 'easy weekend project'. Need a little advice on finishing with west system epoxy. It dried a little rough, and the spots that made contact with the finishing pyramids need a pass with a card scraper. Cleaned up, it gets a white opaque hue. I'll,give it one or two more coats of epoxy before switching to poly. Assuming I sand between epoxy coats, and the white 'haze' will be filled in by the next coat?West system recommends wet sanding to 600 between epoxy finish coats. I just want make sure I'm not sealing in that white haze with the next coat My biggest concern is the boat sitting wet in a 1/8" for a day of water at the bottom of the tub after it's drained. wtnhighlander
Vinny, you should be able to make the epoxy shiny and clear, but it will take a cotton buffing wheel to do it. Since the epoxy doesn't melt into the previous coat, I'm not sure if adding the second coat will eliminate the haze. Got a test piece? wouldwurker
Ha! I ran out of throwaway brushes for a second epoxy coat. I'll be back at it tonight. I'm actually happy that I screwed up one of the boats because now I have a great test piece.
wouldwurker
The first epoxy coat wet-sanded quite nicely. Used a card scraper to take off the tiny bumps first. Platin 500 pad damped with mineral spirits on the ROS. Baby butt smooth
