wdwerker
Sounds like a pretty good deal, saw and accessories would be around $4500 new.

Twistedcowboy
A couple of weeks ago I was at Woodcraft with my wife and daughter. My daughter walked over to a Sawstop saw and promptly sliced her finger open on some pad on top of the deck. Oh the irony. Didn't need stitches but did need a couple Band-Aids. Bad Sawstop, bad. Twistedcowboy
on some pad on top of the deck What is a pad? I'm not sure what it was. It was this green square on top of the deck. She just touched it and wham, blood. I don't own a Sawstop so I have no idea what it was for.
minorhero
Just pricing one out brand new, looks to be 3100 off of the sawstop website. Then comes with an extra regular brake cartridge and an extra dado cartridge. Call that another 150, so the deal is 750 off the new price. Its better then nothing but not exactly the deal of the century to give up on a warranty. I will probably be buying a sawstop soon, but I live in maryland and don't want to travel that far as well. What I really want is for them to run their free mobile base promotion again.

Pretty sure it was a typo. Wouldn't make any sense otherwise. This made me laugh. I have a sawstop and there is no built in finger cutting pad that sits on the " deck" whatever that is. Must be something woodcraft put on the saw?? What I disagree with is your comment about being able to get a lot better saw for the money. For the same money, which saws are a lot better ? mat60
Come on..The sawstop new is more than a delta cabinet saw.I also think you may be able to get a 5hp saw for same money..
wtnhighlander
I wonder if the control circuit in a Sawstop can be wirelessly hijacked, like a car with collision avoidance and lane assist features. Now that I've mentioned it, I'm waiting for a sudden rash of unexplained brake firings.

What features does the Delta have that makes it better than the SawStop? The SawStop is a lot more than just the flesh detecting technology. Everything with the saw is well thought out and easy to use. I recently made maximum depth cuts in hard maple and 3hp handled it just fine. 41 minutes ago, wtnhighlander said: I wonder if the control circuit in a Sawstop can be wirelessly hijacked, like a car with collision avoidance and lane assist features. Cliff
I don't think it could be wirelessly hijacked as there shouldn't be any wifi chips on board. But I'm sure someone with enough gumption could rig up a way to change the electric field and trigger it.
Popular Post Eric.
I have no dog in the race because I have a Grizzly. But IMO, if you're jumping up to the 3k range of saws, there's not even a debate that the best choice is a SS. Not because it's way better than the others in that price range, but because it has the safety feature AND it's as good or way better than others in that price range. The choices for 3hp cabinet saws these days, for me, basically boil down to a G0690 for about $1500, or a SS PCS for about twice that much. No other saws make sense unless you're trying to match colors in your shop like a goofball.

Ok so back to your original comment. You say you can get a lot better saw for the money. A 3hp professional Sawstop with 52" fence is 2999$ at woodcraft. http://www.woodcraft.com/product/847463/sawstop-3-hp-professional-cabinet-saw-with-52-professional-tglide-fe.aspx A 3hp delta unisaw with 52" fence is 3299$ at Rockler. http://www.rockler.com/delta-unisaw-tablesaw-3-hp-with-52-biesemeyer-fence-system-model-36-l352-2 So even if you call these saws identical in quality the sawstop is cheaper. And lets not forget about the safety feature of the sawstop which is worth a lot to me and to most people. I have used many other saws, delta unisaw, euro panelsaws, general Int. contractor saw, bosch jobsite saw and the list goes on and I think the Sawstop is at the top of the heap. The SS ICS build quality is on-par with the best Asian-sourced cabinet saws. But let's not get carried away -- the ICS doesn't compare against top-shelf Euro kit -- not even in the same league... Good point. Let me clarify, ive used a bunch of different saws over the years, my experience isnt only with one saw. That said, Sawstop is at the top of the heap of the cabinet saws at that price point.

Don would argue that the ICS build quality is on par with a PM2000 and that the PCS is a step below. I don't remember the specifics. The PCS does have a smaller table than the PM 2000 (20w 27d for PCS, 22w 30d for PM). So if you are purely doing a price compare, ICS vs. PM might be more apples to apples than PCS vs PM. But for a hobby shop the argument is a bit academic.
Trip
==>ICS build quality is on par with a PM2000 and that the PCS is a step below That's why I qualified with ICS... The ICS is on-par with the best Asian-sourced builds... The PCS is a step down. ==>PCS does have a smaller table than the PM 2000 Just the most visible aspect --- it's more about the trunion and arbor assemblies... ==>But for a hobby shop the argument is a bit academic. For most, yea... But many hobbyists are still humming-along with 50 year old PM66s... Don't think the same will be said about the PCS... Unless SS plans on selling new "brains" or "computers" or whatever they are calling it for a reasonable price.
