The problem with this analogy Coop is the setup. Some folks can spend 30 years on one of these and still not get it dialed in. And customer service?! Don't even dream.
jplemons
Grizzly seems to have had supply issues with its jointers for quite some time now. I remember looking at them when initially shopping for one but the models I wanted were almost always out of stock, so I started looking elsewhere. I've only bought one item from Grizzly and was not impressed after I snapped a bolt while mounting it to the wall. Cheap. Why wait when there are others out there that are comparable and in stock, I say.
wdwerker
I have been happy with my Jet jointer.
Tom King
I read somewhere that there was a Taiwanese factory down that made stuff for Grizzly, and a number of other companies.
Tom King
I just looked on that Cl again. There's a 12" Northfield on it now.
Popular Post LazarusDB
Just to close the book on this topic...I never did hear back from the CEO. On the 15th I went to my closest Woodcraft and purchased the Powermatic 54HH which they had in stock. I had originally wanted an 8" jointer but I bought the best jointer I could afford at the time and have no regrets...SOOOOO happy with my choice. 6

Dang, I need to move back to NC! There never seems to be anything good on CL withing a 6-hr drive.
Chestnut
Congrats, I think this means it's time to go make something. https://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?260992-Grizzly-Frustration&p=2763153#post2763153 Was this the post about grizzly's problems? bleedinblue
I think the 54HH is an extremely solid bet. As far as the extra two inches, it takes no time to take the pork chop off then hand plane the excess off.

I doubt you will ever be sorry again that the Griz didn't work out.
