Popular Post Llama
Well... I just couldn't help myself today. I was feeling a little down, as life is happening at a pace and with a certain momentum that I cannot seem to slow down. So, with this realization I decided that I needed another plane. Can't slow things down, so I have chosen to speed them up. I found myself staring at the BCTW page looking through what they had in stock. Nothing really grabbed my eye, so I decided to do some looking at the HP-6 planes. HP-6FX to be more specific. To my surprise, it was in stock. Was not listed on the standard "in stock" page. I took about an hour to think about it. In that time, I consulted someone that owns a few of these HP-6 planes to see just how useful it would be in my workflow. It didn't take much convincing. I suppose to be fair, I was looking for a reason not to buy it. I found no such reason, so I sent in my money and am now looking for a quick delivery. As quickly as things are going in my life now, I would not be surprised if my new plane was in my possession tomorrow evening. Although, next week is more likely For those interested, here is a link. http://www.bridgecitytools.com/default/hp-6-fx-mini-multi-plane-body.html I am looking forward to obtaining more profiles as the next year progresses. Something to keep my mind on this lovely hobby of constantly shelling out money in an uncontrollable manner.
wtnhighlander
Man, those BCT planes sure are purty! I hate to think what they might cost when fully accessorized.

Llama
I didn't even know i needed this. This forum is a terrible place to hang out..You don't need this.Man, those BCT planes sure are purty! I hate to think what they might cost when fully accessorized. At around $140 for each profile, plus another $150 or so for the fence... It can add up quickly. This is why I'm attacking the profiles next year. I'm thinking one a month or something manageable. There isn't many more hand tools I need, so I decided to take the dip and get my feet wet. Michael Schaefer
I have a couple of these, to use with the different profiles and for doing tapered sliding dovetails....you will not be disappointed. I will caution you, this is not a plane body where you only buy one....that's what I started with and then the next profile order included another one. I will caution you, this is not a plane body where you only buy one....that's what I started with and then the next profile order included another one. I've been told that. I'm all for it I am trying to make a list of the profiles I need to get first. Although I eventually want them all, I have to start somewhere. The form factor of the smaller convertible planes make them very appealing. I have the HP-9 on order, and currently have an HP-10 in the shop. I'm sure this list will continue to grow as these planes are simply perfect in every way. I am looking forward to more profiles for the HP-10 as well. Perhaps a T&G kit, and the shoulder plane attachment that has been on the hit list since the plane was released. In case you missed the pics, here's the HP-10 I have. Llama
I do like how they stick two fingers up at convention. Enjoy it Llama.I suppose that's what drew me to them initially. Their planes look like something the aliens dropped off.
Llama
It's here!!!! Stunning plane! Looks fast just sitting still! For a size comparison: Here's a current group shot of the BCTW kit. I bought the layout tools on eBay, the planes and KM1 were bought new from BCTW.

Llama
I remember saying a few years ago on this forum that if LN came out with a bronze stanley #45, I'd be in trouble. Well, seems that I'm already in for it. I have already purchased a profile for the HP-6FX plane. I can see a few more making their way to my shop in early January as I've got a line on a couple new in box profiles a friend has. I am looking forward to getting this plane in the shop, and making some shavings!
Llama
New shoes for the HP-6FX! Such a nice cutting plane! Very comfortable, and no chatter! I need more profiles immediately.
Eric.
Amazing piece of equipment there. Beautifully crafted and I'm sure it works like a dream. But I just can't like that knob. Looks like a microphone from the 50s. Just a little too Jetsons for my taste. The rest of it is insanely cool.
Tom King
Now that's cool! I didn't know that it got transformed into a real molding plane! I didn't follow the links, but thought it was just a fancy, regular multi-plane.
