My first cabinet is going to be a 31" wide by 16" deep vanity for our small half bath to replace the crumbling pile of mdf that won't even hold the door screws anymore. Anything would be an improvement.
Denette
I'm jealous of you! Wish I were somewhere in life where I didn't have to play it safe professionally. I'm not certain I would want to go full time professional with woodworking, but I would love to give it a go someday!
freedhardwoods
I wouldn't set the envy level too high yet. If I suck at cabinet building, my little parade won't be going very far.
Popular Post freedhardwoods
Haven't had much time lately but I did make a little more progress & got the dust blower hooked up. I had to use my vast redneck engineering experience to make a connector; a big tin can and gray tape.
Coop
Hey, a tin can or #2 wash tub, whatever it takes. I understand and agree with redneck Will you have any kind of catch/filter on the exhaust side of the fan?

It wouldn't take much to build a frame that you can slide a standard A/C filter into that has a duct leading in and out. You might even be able to make one that fits the length of the duct that your can is currently filling. I made you a highly technical drawing.

Popular Post freedhardwoods
I worked on the saw today. First I made a zero clearance insert with a splitter. Then I cut the rail and mounted it so it can cut to about 54". I am building an outfeed and side table. I will basically be surrounding three sides of the saw with a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood.
mat60
Good improvement I bet. What is the splitter made from and what holds it in place?

I made it from 1/8" aluminum 2" x 2" angle. Yesterday was about 50/50 metal/wood fabbing.
Popular Post freedhardwoods
I got my table saw table built. I may add an additional fold down outfeed table for help when cutting sheet goods lengthwise. The fence will go 54" to the right of the blade. I'm working on my new router table now. I read some reviews where the reviewers could not get the table flat. Some gave it a very low score because of that. My table had the same problem. Using some 1/64" gasket material, I was able to get the table perfectly flat in about 20 minutes. Tomorrow I'll put the fence together and work on making the stand for the table. I need to do some more dc plumbing also
Denette
I bet that gasket material will also absorb a little vibration - can't be a bad thing!

freedhardwoods
I finally got back to working in my shop. Just about ready to start on my first kitchen. Can't get pics to load for some reason.
freedhardwoods
Pics were too big. First pic is using my laser to get my chop saw table straight. My shop looks pathetic compared to many of yours. Maybe someday I can have a nice setup.

wdwerker
Plus it's a whole different set of goals when you are setting up to build cabinets for a living. Your chop saw set up looks nice so far. Are you going to have a fence with accurate stops ?
