bushwacked
Since a few wanted to go on this journey I figured I’d post haha. It will be a quick little write up so you all can see. Cut into pieces and grouped into 5ish pieces each. all glued together... got my sanding station setup .. yes that was my bookcase project too going on at the same time. That was a fun 14 hour day getting both projects progressed. attacking it with the belt sander. Still took about an hour with thatbto get it decent. rounded the corners off. sanding the rounded corners. Thank goodness the paint can and base for the disc sander were the same height. Made sanding so much easier.
Coop
This is going to be cool! I needed one of those shade covers today.
Tom King
This made me remember that I own some belt sanders. It must have been two, or maybe even three decades since I don't remember using one. Fancy fan rack!
mat60
I found your post a ply top. This should be a interesting and different.
wtnhighlander
What kind of ply is that? Its going to be an interesting (and sturdy) tabletop, for sure!
Brendon_t
I've got a project coming up hopefully pretty soon where I'll be carving with plywood. It can be fun when used the wrong way. Looks like you're having fun
Chestnut
Don't feel bad i made one too. I have a bunch of these old red oak white oak hickory and maple beams i salvaged from construction sites. Megan's brother saw them and wanted me to make him a TV stand and coffee table from it. I just finished the coffee table. filled with dirt stains saw blade marks and staining from steel banding. It's also not flat square or true in any dimension. That is 3/4 birch Here it is finished up with legs on and ready to leave my shop .. there it is with all its legs installed and finished. Not as bad as I thought it would look haha. Glad it was a quick build and easily made in a day and then just glue drying taking up the most time. It soaked up a toooon of finish. Like 3 quarts? or so almost.
Coop
You know, that ain’t half bad, if you’re into that. I like the one to the left of it in the last pic better though!
wdwerker
Interesting piece. Maybe using Baltic birch would have yielded a lighter more consistent color. Although Baltic does have the occasional dark knot speck in the core most of them are small.
lewisc
I agree with Ken. It’s not that bad. I think it’s perfectly suits the style of table you were going for. What did you charge for it if you don’t mind me asking?

About maybe 3 hours of total work. 2 hours was probably sanding haha
