Sepele Jewelry Boxes

I made a couple of jewelry boxes out of sepele for my daughters for Christmas.  I haven't made any thing for them since they were kids here at home so I figured it was time.  They are simple in design, neither one of our daughters is into fancy or real ornate stuff.  I used Brusso stop hinges and they are finished with satin Arm-R-Seal.  This is the first project using sepele and I really enjoyed working with it.  I have another project after the first of the year and I now think I will be using sepele for that one also.

The chatoyance is really something with sepele as you change the angle at which you view it from.

Those turned out great Chet!  Didn't we use some Sapele on some cutting boards when I was there?  Certainly not the same amount of "woodworking" for sure!

Beautiful boxes.  Sapele can be a beautiful material if we just let it shine through as you have.  Very nice material and craftsmanship.

Clean and simple can be exacting work. There is no ornamentation to distract from any flaws. Your work showcases the wood !

I really enjoyed it.  I am looking for other projects to us it on.  Looking for other projects to use it on.  It  has me thinking about a Demilune table of some sort.

Yea we did but as you have already stated, sort of but not really woodworking.

All jokes aside i love the simple design and that Sepele must look spectacular when it catches sunlight.

I don’t have  such so still have to use an old white bed sheet . Well done Chet, those are cool. I have to get a couple of pieces of walnut tomorrow and will look up their supply of Sapele.
