Mark J
Is there somewhere to check when it's time to re-up supporter status? Do we get an email? I'm thinking mine has or will expire soon.
Chestnut
I think it got removed as i tried to update my supporter tag and couldn't figure out where it was. If I'm wrong i'll gladly sign up again.
Chet
Let me check into this guys. I will let you know what I find out.
Mick S
i emailed Marc when my renewal came up since the renewal link wasn't working. He said he'd get back to me. I didn't hear anything so I prodded him again and he said not to worry about it.
JohnG
When I first started browsing the site there was a link to become a supporter, but then when I was ready to become a supporter the link was gone.

JohnG
Doubtful, in my opinion. It was quite a while back before the link was taken away. Plus, Marc wouldn’t have just migrated it to a faster server if he was planning on shutting it down soon. I’d guess TWW is footing the bill and that the supporter option would return before shutting the forums down.
..Kev
I've dropped Marc a note and will update this thread as I get some answers. Thanks for the interest!
Chestnut
I thought he mentioned about a year and a half ago that he was upping monetization through Amazon ads. Probably dropped the supporter at that point.
Pondhockey
I don't see any ads.
..Kev
I've talked with Marc and the Supporter program is no more. In the end, he doesn't feel good about taking money from people for something that he's not actively involved with. He certainly appreciates the interest! So, as I find some time, the supporter tags will be removed so there's less confusion in the future. If there's any questions, please feel free to drop me a pm. Coop
I hadn’t given it any consideration. I just assumed it was taken out of my bank account or off my credit card and I was happy either way. Thanks Marc.
drzaius
I have been happy to contribute the cash, but if advertising comes back I'll click on the links regularly like I did before. A high percentage of the ads had some interest to me anyway. I view ads a way for me to stay current with products & services that are available, and as a bonus there are a great deal of interesting and entertaining ads out there. Ones that are obnoxious or insult my intelligence (not much to insult there) just get ignored or skipped. 1
Popular Post Pondhockey
Thanks for the update. Probably a better way to support is to join the guild, which I haven't done yet! 3
Coop
I’ll be darned, I do see adds creaping in and several having nothing to do with Woodworking.
Mark J
Me, too. And they're larger format, too.
Pondhockey
Whoa, lost my "Supporter" banner, and sure enough I see ads. Now I know what everyone was talking about! (Ads seem relevant and unobtrusive to me.)
lewisc
Yeah, not excited about seeing some ads. Happy to pay the $20 for no ads.
Mark J
I am in the "rather pay Marc and Nicole 20 bucks" camp. Even if I didn't get a banner. The ads, whether relevant or not, are in the way, particularly on a phone.
JohnG
I rarely see ads on here... I guess Firefox blocks them? I haven’t had an ad blocker installed for a while, and have never had one on my phone (which is how I access this site 90% of the time). It’s approx. 25% of my screen.
