Popular Post mkrusen
Here is a box I just finished for my wife's aunt. She loves oriental design so that's what I was shooting for. Other than that, there were no real design constraints so I let my wife pick the lumber she liked and I took it from there. The legs were really fun. Let me know what you guys think.

Coop
Really cool looking piece. In the first pic it looks like 4 little stick figure guys holding it up!
Brendon_t
I think it has pretty nice aesthetics. I would have made the lid flush to the sides or a bit proud. It looks a bit off being smaller than the sides.
gee-dub
What a fun design. Great details. The paper or fabric on the inside floor is a cool feature.
drzaius
Beautiful box. Using highly contrasting woods often ends badly, but you nailed it with those. Great design too.
BonPacific
That's gorgeous wood. I like the pegs on the legs, nice little detail.

The chamfer on the upper part of the box and underside of lid give the illusion thats its smaller. I might be mistaken but that's what it looks like to me. Chestnut
This is cool. Where did you get the inspiration for it? I kinda like the chamfer between the lid and the box it helps separate them.
prov163
Really nice work! I like the chamfer separating the box and lid, but the legs are my favorite part. Well done!!!
RichardA
Now, that is sexy as hell! Bamboo skewers for the leg connection? Damn well done!

I saw a picture of some legs kinda like these that I liked and I just went with it from there. The ones I saw were ebony, very skinny and round, almost like spider legs. I wanted these to be a bit thicker. They kind of remind of beams for a pagoda or something. I think the chamfer may be a little bigger than I would've liked but oh well. Hindsight is 20/20. 1 hour ago, RichardA said: Now, that is sexy as hell! Bamboo skewers for the leg connection? Damn well done! Bamboo skewers, yep. The legs sit in a dado in that cross piece of bubinga and then are pegged with the bamboo for additional reinforcement. Not sure if it was necessary but it gives me peace of mind and adds another cool little feature.

The spider legs kinda makes me want to make a box that looks like a spider.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I'm really happy with the piece. Glad you guys enjoy!
