mat60
Having some OSB on the wall made a big change in there. Nice work.
freedhardwoods
I had most of the day to work on the shop yesterday. Most of that time was finishing the second sliding door. When I ran the wiring, I left the wires hanging at the breaker box. I hooked up the new wires and combined a couple old circuits while the box was still hot, but with the breakers off. (probably not the approved method ).

That started decades ago when money was tight. That's also why I'm doing it now. I hate paying other people to do work that I can do, although, in the last few years, I've been getting lazy and let someone else do some of my vehicle repairs. 3 hours ago, Chet K said: It's nice to see what actually looks like woodworking tools in the shop. They've been there all along. I just had to keep them stuffed in a corner. I hope I can start upgrading to better equipment like a lot of the members here have in the not too distant future.
Popular Post freedhardwoods
The last few days working on the shop has been mostly piddly stuff that doesn't show. When I'm doing construction, I am a little messy. I have it cleaned up now ready for painting and last row of ceiling insulation.

mat60
Wow. Thats looking like some great work space. Are you also going to install OSB over head also? What color paint are you thinking?
Popular Post freedhardwoods
I'll be glad to be done with my carpenter hat and can put on my woodworking hat. I have 20 gallons of white latex. I have basically no experience in spraying anything on wood. I didn't want to run latex through the sprayer I will be finishing wood with (still on my "to get" list) and I knew I would need some practice with spraying, so I bought a Wagner power painter to paint the walls and get some spray practice. I am going to fasten AYR-FOIL A1V (the same stuff I finished my sliding doors with) to the 2x10 ceiling joists and slide the 3 1/2" insulation between the foil and 6" insulation. The reflective foil is supposed to have an R value of about 3 when it has an air space. I will have a light weight, shiny ceiling. The people I was working for today happened to have some foil left over from a construction job and I needed some more so I bought it at a decent discount.
freedhardwoods
Watching someone else use a power painter makes it look easy. Just imagine tying 20 lb weights to your wrists and then holding them out in front of you for a few hours. I'm exhausted. It's a crappy paint job, but it's brighter now.

wdwerker
Looks like you will have a nice space to work in ! I haven't visited this thread in a while. Even after 30+ years using a spray gun it still wears me out more than woodworking all day.
Coop
Too little, too late, but I bet a water based sanding sealer might have served you better as the first coat. Still, I'm sure the second coat will improve your outlook. This sucker's looking great freed! I still remember the pics of when you scraped the sod off of the base. You've come a helluva long way man!!

I'll try and take some pictures later tonight and post them. It's not much right now, just four walls and some dust collection. Hoping to finally get started on cabinets and such next week. freedhardwoods
Worked on the ceiling today. Didn't have the whole day to work or I might have got it all up. I slid 3 1/2" insulation in after getting the Ayr Foil up. It's sagging a little more than I expected.
BonPacific
I have a similar foil on the ceiling of my 1-car shop. It's decent stuff, but I'm not a fan of the light and look. Of course mine is on an 8 foot ceiling, much more noticeable than your installation. Impressive work Freed, I've been popping in occasionally, but never have anything to say other than jealousy .
freedhardwoods
I delivered some face frame stock to a cabinet shop in Kentucky yesterday. On the way home I picked up the saw I bought. I am starting another thread on stocking my shop with tools. I won't have big or fancy tools, but maybe another beginner might get an idea to help them. http://www.woodtalkonline.com/topic/25111-stocking-my-shop-with-tools/ I am really busy at work lately. Probably won't get much done on the shop for a few days.

freedhardwoods
I finally got a couple days to work on my shop. I finished the ceiling and got the lights up. I am going to call the building done. Now I can work on getting tools set up. Still pretty busy at work, so it might take a little while. Home depot didn't help too much. I bought the lights and bulbs at the same time a couple months ago. They sold me the wrong bulbs. Hopefully, I'll be working on my first project soon!
