Andy Faust
Hey I have the same planer and am looking in to a cheep way do get adequate dust collection from it. What do you think of the drunken woodworking perch at make something. Looks like the bag is running about $40 on Amazon.
mat60
Hi Andy. Im not saying it wont work ok but the bag will fill up fast depending on how much you do and it seems in the way. His wood drags on his bag if you dont hold it up also.

Coop
I purchased Rockler's 4" x 10' hose last week and plan to make a bag from a bed sheet. This will get the bag out of the way of the outfeed and keep me from having to empty my dc bag as often.
wdwerker
Depending on the bed sheet some coarser fabric might work better. Planer shavings usually don't have all the fine dust a saw produces.
RichardA
Remember, that planer throws the chips very hard, if it grabs a knot, you might kiss your bag goodbye. There's always this.

Chet
Andy If you go that route I think what Coop is doing would be better then have the dust bag laying across the outside.
Andy Faust
Hey thankseveryone looking for something that is also safe. Not sure how a pillowcase be at adequately holding in the finer dust. I don't plan on using a dust mask or a respirator.
Brendon_t
Rockler sells a dust rite 30 micron bag with a zipper to empty. I have seen 4" hard pipe used to direct it over to the root of the table then down where the bag will connect and blow down. No interference with the table. Tpt life
Just noodling here... Do you think the blower is strong enough to drive a small cyclonic action without the need of an impeller if the pipe were only two or three feet long? Andy Faust
I'm not sure if it's strong enough for a standalone cyclone I really haven't gotten much use on. It but if it is that would be a good idea. Any suggestions on a good cyclone.

You don't really get a lot of fine dust from a planer, it is mostly chips of wood.
Andy Wright
One of these https://www.google.com/search?q=cyclone+trash+can+lid With a 30 gallon trashcan and a shop vac filter on the output should work well.
wtnhighlander
The chip ejector in my DW735 is powerfull enough to fully inflate the bags of my 1.5hp delta dc, through 10' of 4" flex hose, with the dc off. Pretty sure it will work through a cyclone, especially if you have only a coarse filter after it, or vent outside. Like several have said, the planer produces shavings, not so much dust. I tried that. The filter will be full of shaving in no time. Went with a Jet Vortex Cone. Got tired of experimenting and wanted to woodwork. I just setup my 735x today, and ran it for the first time. And yes..... I used a pillowcase and a drawstring.
