Boatworks Today
Either that is a HUGE turning, or those guys are REALLY tiny !

TRBaker
Man, that thing is really going to need a big dust collector. Of course right now it does a good job of collecting at their feet.
..Kev
Now that I look at it a bit more Haydon, I think you need to pull this pic down as the guy at ground doesn't have the proper protective equipment on

G S Haydon
Byrdie, you are the pun master . TimV
Is that a 1/4" bowl gouge he's using to rough that out?
G S Haydon
Seriously mental
Tpt life
I just cannot wrap my mind around these projects. The speed differential between rim and center would make the center an agonizingly slow process that would bear little resemblance to other turning. dwacker
Seriously mental I would love to see the machine side of that "lathe". Got anymore pics?
G S Haydon
I wish I did PB, sadly just founding it browsing Pinterest, here's his site though sadly not much on the machinery used. C, I know where your coming from, its awesome to see the envelope being pushed. I've never used a lathe so all of this is just wow!

Tpt life
Have you all seen the Kanuk on YouTube who chucks a stump up to FWD minivan? Sorry for the edits. First link was bad.
dwacker
==> I would love to see the machine side of that "lathe". Scares me just looking at it.... I started building mine a few weeks ago. I bought an old twin post above ground automotive lift and cut the post off. That's as far as I've gotten but it will be cool someday. Trip
==> it will be cool someday no doubt... short straw gets to be the test pilot? -- or perhaps a new summer intern? Maybe something along the lines of, "Welcome to our shop, now your job for this summer is stand right here holding this long sharp tool against this big piece of wood while I stand way over there and throw the switch..."
G S Haydon
C, I have seen that dude. He also has a video where he cuts dovetails with a chainsaw projecting from a table . I always get the feeling he is going to end up dead!
