woodworkingmax
Is there a place to propose builds for the Guild? I saw this video and I knew I have to build something similar: http://youtu.be/XVC9HOSwHl4 Or something like this: http://www.geekchichq.com/the-emissary-gaming-table.html But if we have Marc build a gaming table it would be an awesome project since everyone can come up with different designs.
Beechwood Chip
I really like the 18th-century Game Table.
..Kev
I like the first one as well!
Southwood
3rd vote for the 1st one. it rocks
Bombarde16
4th vote. I'd definitely build along if the next project was the 18th century gaming table.
rodger.
The 18th century one certainly has a lot of moving parts!
Cochese
Only thing cooler I've seen is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKikHxKeodA#t=

woodworkingmax
I also like the second but I will add elements of the first one to it, like the layers of tables.
Byrdie
I'd go with the 18th century table myself although I'm not a guild member.

sjeff70
Maybe at some point Marc will have an advanced level build?
thewoodwhisperer
The 18th Century gaming table is amazing. But at the risk of throwing some cold water on the discussion I have to be realistic. A Roentgen piece is a masterful creation that probably took many years to design and develop by someone a hell of a lot more talented than I am. Unless I have some plans or something to help get the ball rolling, it isn't likely I'll ever have the time to re-invent the wheel so to speak. Well, unless you guys don't mind me taking a year off from the Guild. Now the second table is probably a little more realistic, giving us an opportunity to crowd-source ideas for what to include in the design. It would still take some time to design but isn't quite at the level of a Roentgen piece.
cabinfever
I realize this is an old thread, but a build for something like the GeekChic table would be very cool. +

Coop
Shocking! Is pretty cool. I built one last year but added a few extras to it
Eric.
It's cool because it's made of wood, but that's about where my interest ends. I would be bored to death with building that after a month.
Popular Post thewoodwhisperer
Well Nicole and I discussed it and a gaming table sounds like a good plan for the Fall 2015 project. I don't plan on stepping on Geek Chic's toes here so the design with have to be thoughtful and considerate in that regard. But ultimately, a beautiful dining table that can double as a gaming surface with the option of adding various accessories sounds doable to me. Opens the door for chairs that would complete the set later as well.
HunterL
I would love that fall project. I probably would skip the gaming additions, but want to build a dining room table.
bgreenb
Cool. I'd be very interested in the matching chairs. I really enjoyed the walk through of the blacker house chair build and would love to see a full detailed build of an interior dining chair. (The table will be cool too.) Eric.
I have a feeling I'll still be sculpting walnut by fall 2015. And spring 2016. And summer 2017. And...well...those Maloof chairs are gonna be time consuming, is what I'm trying to say. And of course being the genius that I am, I'm gonna tackle two of them. Every inch of those things...hand carved.

Or just in the sense of "I used my hands to control the arbor tech blade in my angle grinder?"
Eric.
I mean Neanderthal. Are you gonna hit it with the grinder and call it good? There's a boatload of rasp work to do on those chairs after the grinding is done...the grinders just remove the bulk of the meat. Then you have to go over the whole thing meticulously and create hard lines and returns and transition those lines with soft roundovers, etc. It's an enormous build, not in scale but in scope. It's gonna be a blast though.
Beechwood Chip
Woo hoo! A poker table that can double as a dining table! Chairs would also be cool.
