bradpotts
Looks great man. Every time I see your little hand plane maker's mark I get jealous it's not mine. Too cool. For the knob...if it were me...I'd be going simple, round, unadorned, understated. Cherry. There's a lot going on in that table already...any more might get overwhelming. I was thinking about a round handle as well. The problem I have is I don't have a lathe. I have seen a couple articles about turning one on the drill press. Maybe I will give it a shot and see how it turned out. I don't like the idea of buying one either.
wtnhighlander
Have a belt or disk sander? If so, cut a rough circle, then put a 'stem' in the center. Could be a glued-in dowel, or a threaded hole, with a bolt and jam nut. Chuck it in a hand drill, and shape against the sanding belt or disk.
Eric.
Doesn't have to be perfectly round, either. Get a sharp knife and whittle something organic and round-ish. Pull out any Krenov book for inspiration. He did it the best.

Popular Post bradpotts
Here is the final pictures with the handle. I bought two handles and turned one. Didn't like any of them but on the third one, I finally found one I liked. Actually the wife is the one that didn't like all the other ones.
