Been busy... here's a pic...

Dominoed together right now. Gonna edge the ply, then install slides... then, cut the fronts and inlay the tree thing.

I'm sure I missed something? What will the front be made of? I think it's beau-ti- full so far!

Very nice! I would like to know how you did the inlay as well? Router and template?

Templates - Drew out the shape on cardboard, cut that our to trace on 1/4" MDF, made sure to add on some "feet" for overlap, plunged in the 1/4" MDF to route out the inside shape.

Inlay - used the white side inlay set. I routed the inlay pieces first, drew those onto the maple ply to ensure proper layout. I numbered each piece, and included little hash marks. I routed the maple ply ensuring I had enough room so I could sand flush. Also allowing proper overlap of the design.

There was a sequence of 7 steps to get all the branches inlayed.

That's about it... actually pretty straightforward.

Is Aedan showing signs of interest in woodworking?  It looks like he has the aptitude.

He is interested in helping in the shop... I'm not sure if it's the woodworking he's interested in or just spending time with me doing something fun.

Either way is cool :)

Beautiful work as usual Mel, is this piece for you or someone else? the scale of the inlay fits perfectly with the piece, well done sir!

Thanks! :) It is a commission. Going to the same client as the liquor cabinet I made last year.
