Chet
Coop, it's a bevel, you get the appearance of steps because it is ply. You are seeing edge grain on every other layer.
Popular Post pkinneb
Made some more progress on the doors and drawer fronts First I set up for the crosscuts, I used blue tape on the stiles to insure I didn't inadvertently cut them. With those done I moved on to the cheeks, The new jig worked great Then it was time to mill up panels I also got the door panels glued up and got the two panels for the vanity stained so I can spray them in the morning and glue up the doors later in the day.

Does that featherboard work well? And, does it only run in the miter slot?

I will jump in here and give you my opinion. I have the same feather board and really like it. Yes it only fits in the miter slot. I bought mine just to use on my band saw. It is pretty adjustable though, you pull the black lever on top of the handle, this allows the feather board to slide back and forth in the black track on the bottom. Simple release the lever, push it against the wood for the pressure you need to keep you work properly against the fence then lock the lever.

You've done a fantadtic job. I know pretty crazy considering I told my wife 6-9 months Having said that I am very happy that I came in under less than a $1000 over budget which which was $17K below the lowest bid and the bids did not include any theater chairs or AV equipment which was nearly $19K. On top of that it's been done the way I want with few compromises and I was able to change things on the fly as desired. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't ready to be done but we are very happy with the results and I'm more then proud to put my name on the work I have done As always the bonus was learning new skills along the way: Understanding sound proofing and room isolation Constructing and drywalling curved surfaces Pouring epoxy countertops Working with LED lighting Painting doors and trim with an HVLP system Now I am sooo close to getting back to making furniture I was even thinking about making a run to a new lumber yard in sothern MN to see if I can get some lumber for the spectator chairs and a couple of small bar stools one behind the bar and one by the drink shelf for when we are playing darts. This thread should be a wrap fairly soon heading out to put the top coat on the vanity now...
Popular Post pkinneb
Today I got the bar cabinet doors, hung adjusted and final prepped for finish The vanity should come out tomorrow then I will have the space needed to finish the doors and drawer fronts. I also got the house siding cleaned up and windows washed, if you recall when I installed the bath/popper vent it was pretty bad
Coop
Now is this the same popper/pooper vent that you used for the popcorn popper vent?

Popular Post pkinneb
Been knocking things off the punch list... First I made the shelves for the back bar cabinet I used the Pantorouter to make the drawer box joints pretty straight forward here is my first attempt Then I went into production on the drawers Then glued them up and added notches for the undermount slides Then mounted them ...and with that the bar is now complete! Only two construction projects left the theater door trim and the marquee. HD sent me an email today that my sheet of frosted acrylic is in for the marquee
Popular Post pkinneb
Started on the door trim today. The goal is to cover the aluminum door seal with out touching it. I ended up using two pieces becuase I didn't have any stock wide enough to do it in one. Man the spring clamps I bought for my kayak have sure come in handy
Popular Post pkinneb
It never ceases to amaze me how long it takes me to finish what I think will be a couple hour project Anyway other than final clean up these are ready for paint and here you can see where there is about an 1/8" gap between this trim and the aluminum. The trim is also held off the threshold by about the same.

JohnG
Looking good! I'm about to start my own basement project, but unfortunately it's definitely not as cool as yours. And hopefully won't take quite as long
Chestnut
You didn't make the movie poster frames did you? Have any recommendations? I got a poster in the mail yesterday that is the shape and size of a movie poster but is for a book. I want to hang it somewhere but don't really want to make a frame. Popular Post drzaius
I think his movie posters are framed LCD displays. You could make one of those & then paste the poster over top.

Drew they are backlit frames for double sided posters. Having said that if you google snap lock picture frames you should see options out there.
